How early? We get there Saturday AM about 3. Usually no farther back than the west side of the horse barn. Typically, we break out the grill about 5:30 and John D makes breakfast while we're waiting in line on Como Ave while everyone else is starving. We also have found a new spot just north of Giggles' on the east side one block in. It's MUCH quieter from the cars going by, no dust/debis kicked up, and enough space to spread out. I think we're going to try to get the 1/2 block towards the corner and wrap around just to be a little more visible.

We definately want a plan made for the space and stuff. We did some planning last year and it certainly helped. I have that weekend off and I think I even took that friday off too.

 What is the wrist band ? Never been to car craft do you need one to get in ? Do we have o get one before we plan on going ?

Brad is referring to wrist bands that you receive when you register a vehicle for the event.  Each registrant gets a wrist band and one other person can ride along in the car for free. 

As a spectator, you will pay around $8-10 per person at the gate.  No wrist band.  O'Reilly's used to sell the tickets for a couple bucks less than at the gate, but I don't think they do that anymore?

The wrist bands come in your goodie bag you get when you go to registration to pick up your credentials to get into the fairgrounds (meaning to get your window sticker). You get two wrist bands, one for the driver and a co-pilot/passenger. Typically, if several club members that may have been attending the weekend by him/herself, would extend thier extra wristband to another member that was also attending by themselves. The last few years, I have been very greatfull to members that let me ride in with them because of that.

When my 66 was on the road. I did the same thing for others that also wanted to attend. Besides, its funner IMO to have another friend, family, club member/car guy with you.

 Other then put some 15 inch radial tires on it I have not done anything to it. I have been spending all my time working on my buddies 55 chevy. Over the winter I should hopefully get some real work done to it.

Loren, I'm trying to remember from 2 years ago... but I think if you go north on Snelling, a couple of blocks south of the main east side gate, they had it marked with a sign and you turn west there.  Then you go into a parking lot (by the horse barns?) where they will have trailers that have alphabetical letters that you go to by last name and pick up your stuff.

You WILL need your drivers license to get the goody bag and wrist bands.

I'm sure some of the regular attendees will have better directions, but that's the general area.  I'm going Thursday after work, so should be there a little before 5 p .m.

Forgot about Bob Lemiere. Ill add him to the list. He did mention he was planning on attending when I ran into him at North St. Paul. Mitch, ill remove you from the list then.

Depending on who is sitting behind the table at registration. You will also need proof of insurance. They do have plenty of signs up telling you where to go. Otherwise, I was always able to just follow all the other muscle cars entering the fairgrounds. You enter in the fairgrounds from Como Ave. The registration tent is usually in the area where the State Fair midway area would be. Or the swap meet at Back to the 50's.

 Cool then. I havent been a participant since 05 or 06 so they must have changed it. I remember a few times I had to show them proof.

The last two years they haven't asked for insurance info, but they are animate about the person with the ID being the person on the ID!!

Last year in the next line over there was a woman with her husband's ID trying to get "their" credentials. (I'm assuming he registered, so it was his info/name). They would not give them to her - even after showing her info - same last name/address/etc..

I guess bring the proof of insurance just in case then. 


Minnesota law requires proof of current/valid insurance to be carried in the vehicle at all times anyway. This shouldn't be an issue...cuckoo

I wasn't sure if it needs to be the proof of insurance for the vehicle being entered, or ANY vehicle you own.  What I meant was that I'm stopping there after work with my truck, NOT the Chevelle, so I wouldn't have the Chevelle insurance card with me unless I made a point to bring it.

Ah, I was thinking you needed it the day of entry for the show car. Does seem silly that they need to see it during registration. I'm sure many people don't drive the car they plan to bring in.

Due to lack of prep time, temps, clean-up, and hauling space I've decided to "do breakfast" only on Friday morning.

If it's going to be 80 degrees and humid, I've got concerns about sanitation and keeping things cool/fresh.
