Some are form camera phone, most were taken in the 1/4 second between people wandering into a shot. Lots of people. Lots of wandering. I know I missed at least one area altogether too. Brief recap:

AAPEX show is a waste unless you are looking for an asian manufacturer/importer. There were some manufacturers upstairs, but I lost 2 hours and countless steps I should have used elsewhere. The only positive thing I got from it was the direct number to a guy at K&N who says he has the power to create a custom air filter as long as he gets the exact dimensions.

SEMA is broken down into 4 parts: tires/wheels and trucks, tools/refinishing/audio, racing/restoration, and the outside areas. Since this show is aimed at business to business uh, "business", so I cruised through 1/2 of it pretty quick. By that I mean it still took all of Wednesday to see everything but the resto/perf area and the outside stuff. I spent most of Thursday in the perf/resto area and friday AM outside. I got so into seeing everything that both days I didn't eat or drink anything until dinner (and by the time I got back to my room and recovered from the walking, it was 7-8pm dinner anyway.

In a nutshell, SEMA is a really good place to see lots of manufacturers and the projects they have built to show off thier wares. It's also a good place to see some of the cars they have sponsored or who have won various contests. Rest assured, most cars there were top notch and incredibly well done. I would do it again with someone, but next time I would definately spare myself from some of the stuff that wouldn't interest me and spend more time in the other areas.

Seen outside my hotel, not part of the show:

Lots of celebs.

Lots of booths, lots of people

Yep, I met Tom, his brother and another one which I forget the relation. Took a pic of all three of them with thier camera. Tom's a nice guy. We hung out for a while friday am. He'd just puked coolant and was waiting for a new waterneck which is why there's coolant under his car. He mentioned you as well.

You got a pic with Jesse and Gunny, you lucky sob. I'm jealous.
Looks (and sounds) like you had a really great time. I wish I could go. Maybe someday.

Yeah, there was TONS of celebrities there and you could have spent the day just waiting in line for all of them without seeing anything else. I didn't plan on waiting for anyone, didn't even bother to look at the appearance list, but I happened upon Jesse and the line was short so I figured what the heck. Gunny Ermey was a different story. I saw him and got in line. I was told the line was done, and he was going on break so come back later. I wandered around some more, but kept an eye out. I ended up actually in line for about 15 minutes until he came back, but I was #2.

BTW, R Lee Ermey is a Chevelle guy. He saw my club shirt I was wearing, and mentioned he has a '71 Chevelle car that he bought from his daughter. Original 350 car.

Did you ask him if he bought it back in mamby pamby land? I guess they have lots of self confidence there.

Who is the guy sitting on stage with the spikey black hair. I recognize him but I cant place the name.

Spikey is Billy the Exterminator. I thought it was odd he was there, but I guess he does some truck promos or something.
