We need 12 member's cars for calendar pictures. It would be preferred that they have not been in the calendar in the past, but even if you have you will be considered if there's otherwise not enough.

I have an e-mail in to Jeff at Cutting Edge who has done them for us. Chris R has said he wants to help coordinate this project. For good instruction on how to photograph your car like a pro, refer to the 3 part series that was in our newsletters earlier this year.

#1 tip-it will be up to the car owner if the DOT license plate is on the car. We aren't going to retouch the pics. FYI, we have Northstar License Plates available for $10 contact Lori or Ian.

Please post up if you're interested. More details to come as soon as I get them.

Sure, I can give it a shot Kevin. Right now, I have a fairly nice camera but I dont know for sure if it will be enough resolution for Jeff or whom ever does our calendar for us.

I already have a list in my head of potential guys that would be good for the calendar so far.

Kevin and that 72 El Camino of yours.
Craig Savina's 72 Malibu.
Derek Keifers 66 Wagon.
Bryans friend Chris with the 67 drag car.
Did the guy with that nice 71 Convert at the last meeting join?
Im pretty sure Ron Fullers 65 hasnt been it yet.
Bryan flattems 72 Malibu.
Bob (forgot last name) with the black 66SS convert
I have been throwing the idea around of slapping on the trim for my car and getting running to get down the street to take some pictures for it as well.

What level of resolution do we think the printer would need?

Actually the 67 drag car is Steve's. We'll see if he wants to do it, but I think members should be priority for spaces.

I would like to get a nice main page shot of whomever brings thier cars up to the picnic at the end of this month. Nice setting, he has ponds, and a good treeline to use as backdrop if he'll let us.

I don't think high resolutin, ie lots of megapixels is as important as a good clear phot without shadows, etc.  any decent camera will work.

Thats my mistake then. I thought he was a member of the club already.

Regarding the pictures. Thats more for Jeff to answer but when he gets the photos, he has to size them to fit. When you do that, the pictures dont always look right when you blow them up to a bigger size or vice versa. They can be fuzzy or distorted.

I know a thing or two about taking pics- I'd be willing to shoot a few if it'd help!

I have some decent ones of my own car too- it was in the 2009 calender though

Also, we have until mid September to get the pics done and to Jeff. Here's what he sent me last night:

Bryan

A good picture will be at least:

1mb in file size or

3000 pixels wide

2000 pixels high

With enough “open” area around the car so that I can make it fit to the page.

Some newer cameras have 16x9 aspect ratio or “wide screen” this is not a good setting for taking a picture for the calendar.

3x4 or pan/scan or photograph mode is best.

Just a reminder, I know the weather's looking a little iffy this weekend, but we don't want to forget about getting pictures done if there's time.

We should also be able to get a nice group picture at the picnic with everyone's cars for the cover.

If it's not too late, a thought on a cover picture that would look cool is a semi circle of cars, staggered if more then one row.

With the photographer up high, like on a lift or roof top.

Chris,Bryan I will PM you my phone number, it should be on my contact info. If you have any questions feel free to call.
Jeff

Jeff. PM replied.

Works for me. A half circle always looks good. Plus it sounds like we will be getting a bunch cars showing up. I was also throwing around the idea of spreading out a group of cars in a random fashion like they used to do on the cover of car magazines.

That would be good also, especially in front of an old, restored building or 60's style gas station.

Hey Jeff, I don't have your e-mail. Can you PM me that please? You covered pretty muche verything I had asked, but since you check emails more, I will use that to get a hold of you (or by phone).

I like both photo layouts. We'll have to experiment a little too.

I will be bringing the EZ-Up (and banner). I think a source of "instant shade" may be good...
