I need a bow tie!

I am in need of a piece of plastic with a bow tie on it to replace the Dr Pepper portion of the below clock.  The Dr Pepper oval is 3x5.  I would need a piece of plastic about 4x6 to replace the Dr Pepper oval with the actual bow tie about 2x4.  The piece would bet glued/taped in behind the white oval outline and the red portion would be removed.  If anyone can think of what I can use please let me know.

Would a vinyl sticker work? Do you want to keep it transparent so it lights up like the Dr. Pepper logo?

Try a grille emblem or tailgate emblem from a 3500 or maybe even a 4500 topkick/kodiak type truck

Its too bad its a nice looking clock. A Ford logo would fit right in there and we can use it for target practice when we meet at Bills for some shootin.biggrin

I was thinking the same thing Bryan was but it wouldnt light up like you want that way. Thinking outside the box. The 55-57 Chevrolets have a rear trunk embelem with a red white and blue insert that is plastic that will come out of the metal housing. I think it would look pretty cool actually.

Complete embelem.

Insert only.

I think the complete assembly would look better but you would have to have the back of the metal milled out since it has no holes behind it.

Jon,

Could you make one out of wood, then paint it?

I am looking for something kind of transparent so the light would show through. I suppose even an off white piece of plastic and I could glue a bow tie onto it. Keep thinking guys.

I was thinking a grill embelem as well but then it wouldnt show light through.

However, how about a red, white and blue 55-57 chevy rear embelem instead? It has a plastic insert that comes out of the metal housing that is clear enough to show light through. Accept its shaped different.

The embelem housing is metal on the entire back so you could mill out the back for a light to shine through.

Figured out what I am going to do. I have painted the red "Dr Pepper" oval white and am looking for a red bow tie or some type of Chevy decal about 2" x 4" to stick on it.

Would 2 high by 4-7/8 work? If so, I have the perfect thing.

It's a real GM emblem, forget from what, guessing maybe Cavalier or Cobalt. The blue is the tab you pull to expose the adhesive on the back. It is very slightly curved like for a hood.

When the pic came up, I held it to the screen-that's the size.

I could meet you tonight after 6 or so. Pick a place, I just have to stop home after work and grab it. Pick a time and place and I'll be there.

Brian,
Here is the finished product. First piture is the color wheel that rotates behind the front plate, and the second is the finished clock. Thanks again for contributing one of your collection to my project, I owe you.

I like it better w/o the color wheel. Looks very nice.

now, if you were asking for a 67 SS396 crossflag emblem, I wouldn't part with it so easily, this one was no big deal.
