'72 Chevelle SS on CL-YES it's mine...

So my wife and I walked around all the cool muscle cars at Pan-0-Prog Friday night, and she kept commenting that she REALLY liked the convertible muscle cars.  I bought her a '97 Mustang 'vert last summer for our 25th anniversary, which is a fun car but it's a V6 and doesn't have that 'nostalgia' feel.

I decided to throw my Chevelle on CL to see if I get any bites.  If I do, we'll look for a '70-71 Chevelle 'vert (already found a nice mostly original '71 Malibu 'vert that was restored in 81) and sell the Mustang because we won't need 2 verts.

Here's the link on my Chevelle:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/cto/1836145377.html

I know that some of you have already spotted it on CL, so thought I'd explain why.  I WILL still have another Chevelle, so don't panic.

I 'like' the Chevelle I have now (especially when I fire it up and drive it) but it's not my favorite color (before you go there, changing color would be WAY more expensive than what it makes sense to put into this car), and I would like more of a highway cruizer so that has more comfort factor (like not roasting to death inside the car!) and AC, BUT still be a Chevelle.

Nothing may come of this, which is fine.  But, I'm just throwing it out there to see if something would work out.  Let me know what you think about my asking price.  I received an email from some smart a#$ in 10 min. after posting it on CL that I was WAY too low based on some internet 'value' calculator.  I let it drop at that...

I'm not going to enter the Chevelle in Car Craft this year but will probably drive down Sat. and walk around for awhile and BS with those of you that are there.  If anyone asks you about any Chevelles for sale in the club, let me know!

Stan

I noticed it and the first thing I thought was. Not you too. But then I thought, its Stan and he likely has a plan up his sleeve. There are some affordable converts coming out of the woodwork lately.

You could get a lot more bites by bringing it to CC and sticking a for sale sign in it though.

Chris, thanks for the credit on not being completely out of mind...

I thought about CC, but I just don't have time for that kind of commitment this weekend.  And, I'm not in that big of a need to put up with all the tire kickers.

Got a serious inquiry tonight that he wants to see it tomorrow p.m.  We'll see what happens.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!!!

The green goblin went down the driveway and on the road this morning.  Nice couple bought it that live in New Brighton so you might see it around the metro area.  They left happy and I got what I wanted out of it.

So, the search begins again!  biggrin

Looking at this one but minus the drivetrain since it's set up to run a high 11 second 1/4 (timeslips to prove it):

Looking in the $13-20K price range.  If it's on CL I've already checked it out...

Stay tuned!  smile

Stan. Did you span out of the twin cities area by using something like Search Tempest to search various cities? I found a bunch of potentials but they are kind of a drive away, Iowa, wisconsin, etc.

Im sure you may have seen them but what the heck. Ill post them anyways just in case.

These 2 would be perfect.biggrin

Ok those are just a joke. But there seems to be some good candidates out there. Might be worth a day trip to check out.

Slightly over your price but maybe he willing to deal.

Thanks Chris.  The first 2 were funny!

I had found all of them except for the one in Appleton/Reedsville, WI.  That looks nice and done well.  I'll keep it in mind.

Otherwise, I found a '71 and a '72 at a collector car dealer in Iowa that I may go look at tomorrow.  Unfortunately, my next oldest sister passed away yesterday due to a long term illness, so I'm driving back to Nebraska for the funeral.  I will probably take a long route there to check these out.  Stay tuned.
