SS quitting intermittently.

Made it home from Rock Falls last Sat.  Quit about 6 times all at low speed.  Quit about 10 times taking Rachel to dinner. Again at low speeds.  Ideas???  I think it may be electrical.

What type of ignition, points or some kind of electronic ignition?

Does the tach go down to zero when the engine quits?

Old points set up, just like on the convertiable.  I investigated a little today.  Started it up and backed out of the garage, choke on, tack at 1400 rpm.  Set brake and let it run.  After a couple of minuets, car just quit.  Just move key to start.  Started right up no accelerator or anything Else. Ran about 1400 rpm.  After a minute or so it just stoped.  Turned key, started right up. Ran for a couple of minutes or so and engine quit.  This went on for a few more try’s until engine warmed up and choke gradually came off.  Finely with engine warm, thermostats open, and choke off engine ran at 700 rpm engine  for around 15 minutes and did not quit.  Air cleaner off the whole time.  I shut  the car off and turned the idle mixture screw, turning them out 1/2 turn.  Started the car and it still idled at 700 rpm. Shut the car off   Letting the car sit until tonight and driving it into the garage.  I will back the car out tomorrow and test again to see if adjusting the mixture screws made a difference.
