Haven't posted for awhile since we've been on a 3 month long journey selling our place in the 'North' metro and buying one in the 'South' metro just 5 miles from where we used to live, and where our daughter, son-in-law, grandson #1, and grandson #2 due in March live.  That's the main reason for moving since I'm working from home for the foreseeable future and Tina went part time back to where she worked when we lived south before, but now working part time to enjoy life more and being close to family after the cancer journey.  In other words, family priorities at this stage of our lives.

Hated giving up the north property with the right house and the shop that we had built, but we cleaned up on the sale after living there 4 years and making the improvements that we did.  Of course, we had to pay up on the buying end, as it was a crazy roller coaster ride in this seller's market for sure.  clonk

Our new place does have a 3 car garage that's currently storing the Trans Am and most of the stuff from the detached shop, so I'm already talking to detached garage builders for construction this summer as we intentionally found a property that has enough space to build, even though it's in 'town'.  We get to ride the material increase and labor shortage wave, but there never seems to be a good time for that anymore.  The new to us (built in late 90's) house also doesn't have a deck, so that will be part of the 'package' we're bidding out.  Sadly, the Chevelle is in 'cold' storage since we don't have room right now, so really looking forward to when it warms up to drive it again since it was all dialed in just before going into storage.

Looking forward to reconnecting with some of the southern metro cruises/shows/friends, and now have a reason for a nice drive up north to see old friends.

Sad to see you leave the "north", but as we all know with Stan it is just a matter of time until the next change. Best of luck to you and Tina in the "south".

Cool, I'll have someone near DCTC to call if I break something again. :)

One nice benefit to building a shop again is that, you can take what you learned from the previous one and change the design to suit you better if there was anything you didn't like.

Yep Derek, I'm about 15 min from DCTC, and now Menards in Apple Valley is even closer if you need that special 8mm caliper bolt!  razz

And yes...your guidance on having an 18' wide door on the detached garage was used on the last shop and will be used again.

Definitely! Nobody should ever build a garage with a standard 16' door. 

Also things like floor drain locations, floor slope, man-door locations, direction overhead doors face (South is best, East is good, West is bad unless you have lots of shade, North is worst!)
