Not even built and already out of room!

Jon-Rule #1 on garages as you know...they're never big enuf!

Kevin-Yes but...everything will be served 'chilled' since no power, insulation, or heat until next year.

Mitch-I got my MC endorsement and also took the Intermediate rider course as required by Polaris to ride any company owned bikes this summer.  If not a bike, then a Slingshot (the 2 wheels in front, and 1 in the back), so have to plan for that.

Concrete was poured this morning in!!!    That will give it a nice slow cure over the next couple of weeks before they start construction.

I REALLY missed having the shop we built in Rosemount after we moved to Kansas City, so told myself when we moved back we would either find a place already with a building or room to build one.  I'm plopping enough money down just for this building alone without any finishing to buy a really nice Chevy truck, so I'm trying to take my time and do it right this time.

Thanks guys.  I think the 1 block course is a city requirement also.

Just talked to the contractor, and he told me they won't start framing for about a month since the concrete needs to get good and hard, and with the cooler temps it will take longer.  It will be stronger curing out that way, but takes more time.  And he prefers to bring out the materials when the ground is frozen.  Who knows, I may get to try out the new Camaro tires in the snow to get it into the new shop as I'm planning on there being snow on the ground by then.  

Looks good and like all projects, may take longer than planned or hoped for.

Yup, we had a light dusting overnight. I had to drive up to Lares this morning for a steering coupling and there was a fair bit more snow on the ground up there.

They got stacked up on jobs because of the weather, so I was 5th or 6th in line. He ordered materials this week though, and said things are starting to move forward.  

Look what showed up today just in time for the January thaw!  

Hopefully, they git 'er thrown up in the next 7 days, with the mild weather.

Busy week so far at the Shinker homestead...progress on Jr.'s Garage as well!  

For the first day including site prep/setup and high winds, they got more done than I thought today.  Gotta' say, I have mad respect for anyone that works outside during this time of the year.  

They may or may not work tomorrow since the high is mid-teen's, but that's o.k. if they don't. I'd rather have them take their time than rush to 'get er done'.  

As Tina just said walking by me as I'm typing this...'It's happening!'.

Thanks Mitch, I've been waiting for this since Oct. too!

This pic is from last Sat. when it was almost 50 degrees and I was clearing off the pad of as much ice/sleet/snow as I could and I was just in a long sleeved t shirt.

It might not be finished for another week based on delivery of the windows and garage door and the weather, but yeah they're making good progress. 

Got home after the sun set, but you get the idea of it's final shape.

No, it's flat all the way across.  I need to measure it now that the joists are in, but it should be a little over 12' from the floor to the joist.  

Windows and service door did get put in today.

 Stan, nice looking fixture but you don't have to go with a special fixture to get the dusk to dawn lighting.  Phillips (and others) have LED bulbs with the sensor built into the bulb. I have been using them for a few years now and they are very reliable plus you get the LED every savings. I get them through amazon for about $30 for a four pack.
