I am taking Thursday off and plan on going down to get my registration stuff and secure some parking spots. Is anyone else willing to help??? I haven't done it in the past, so what is the typical timeline? (go and get stuff, then rush to a spot and sit there for a couple hours until they kick you out???)

Can I get a headcount for people who want to park as a club? It doesn't have to be a Chevelle, so Camaros, GTOs, Mustangs, Grand Nationals, etc are cool. I'm not sure what area it will be in, but I will do my best to get a nice area and enough spots for those who chime in.

for anyone who forgot what it was like:

Bryan, I can probably help that day. We would need some rope/tape. The problem is some folks tape off early and the State Fair Police take it down and others they don't so it is kind of a crap shoot. Officially you can't tape off until three on Thursday but if you are there sitting in chairs I think they leave you alone. We could try and put up some tape Wednesday night and see what happens. It seems if the tape/rope is on the ground it has a higher chance of staying vs tying around trees. Not sure if cones would help, maybe. I would say be in place by noon Thursday.

Bryan,

I was just going to kinda of do the same thing.

I plan on picking up my registration on Thursday.

I can help with spots, but I would not be available until after 4:30 PM.  If that will work, I will gladly come down and help.

Otherwise, Yes, I would like to park with other club members this year.

Thanks,

Hank

I was figuring on going down Thursday sometime in the morning, say 10. I have a bunch of rope and a lot of small 4x4 chunks that would get cross drilled and the rope strung through to keep it somewhat in place out on the tar. Bright orange with Northstar Chevelles written on it in Black sounds nice. Should be pretty portable yet noticeable.

I planned on staying there during the day (to protect it I guess???) but would get bored being alone.

Did a search on here... http://northstarchevelles.activeboard.com/t47351829/car-craft-2012/

Historically they haven't allowed roping-off until 3pm on Thursday, but that's really not the case.

I can't commit to attending, but I may do a "one-day" pass on a day.

I'm trying to get hold of Pushrod, and get the banners & popup. We'll have to figure out a way to get them to a confirmed attendee.

The last couple years they have been really strict on setting up before 3. You can get there at 6am when the fair opens but you just bed to sit by your spots. Enjoy the show glad to see the Chevelle club is going to be there.

I plan to attend for a while each day. I have registered my GMC Envoy as a show car so I can park in the show and reduce my walking.

Are we parking in the usual spot?

You can leave it, we have left the club one sometimes, but I would lock it up.

That's the plan. I know some liked it, some didn't, but it has trees, grass, and is pretty quiet. If it's gone then plan B is...... whatever can be had.

OK. Dana (Red GTO) and I plan on getting there about 10am on Thursday. I have a dozen or so 4x4x4" wood chunks (painted white and decorated with Summit Racing stickers) that have 200 feet of twine strung through them for blocking off space. If you've already said you will be coming by, please stop by, say Hi, and maybe hang out for a little bit so we can go get our stuff or hit the bathroom.

We're planning on being where we have been in the past several years, but I will post something when we get it set. I also plan on being part of the Como Crew every morning too.

I've done it many times after picking up my credentials around 5 p.m. to confirm where our spot was.  Of course, as soon as I say this, it will change this year.

So, unless someone moves us, we're on the same street as past years going from the corner/KQRS building to the normal space.

There is room for any non-Chevelle members, we have several places saved alongside Giggles building next to john sinnas group. We have total room for about 10-14 or so.

Simpke directions: Cooper north to Lee (right at Giggle's Campfire Lidge), Lefo on Cosgrove.

Parking starts at the west side corner past the sidewalk access.

Non Chevelle spaces are along the wood fence at Goggles to the east corner.

And this is why I don't like going on Saturday's of the event (Pic from SMN Facebook page from Sat. July 16th)...

Too many people, and hard to get to the exits when you're ready to leave!

From what I heard, Saturday was a new record for cars. I'm sure some of our guys will chime in on their wait to get in.
