At the March meeting I touched upon my experience with having my W2 information "compromised" (as my employer so PC-ily stated) by a data breach.

Well, the hitsfan...

Sheryl tried to file our taxes for 2015 (electronically) and it was kicked back stating that another return has been filed using the xxxx SSN number already.

So, some scumbag is trying to be me. Now I have to jump through the hoops and prove that I am me... not the MF'r that filed 1st.

(I'm unlike a large portion of the general public. I carry CASH, and rarely use a debit/cash card. I don't have a credit card for every store I patronize - I have TWO - and I watch them very carefully... yet due to the "conveniences of the modern age", a "Paperless society" and lack of electronic security measures I'm now a statistic with a long fight ahead.)

Keep a close watch on your information and finances! No reputable institution should ever ask for a complete account or ID number. If it sounds fishy, it is. Ask your employer about what measures are in place to protect your info, and what their policy is help you if it's "compromised".

Have you contacted the credit reporting agency's and put a lock on your credit yet.
I hate it when you rent a car, go to a hospital, or now here in Ohio when you vote they make a copy of your ID. I'm always concerned with what happens to the copy. Everything needed to open credit cards or accounts is on the ID. There is just to much personal information out there now.
I'm sure the IRS was very helpful.....right?

We're not in Kansas anymore Toto.
