How hot do rear drums get?

Well I think I am finished with the brakes.  I replaced the wrong wheel cylinders that Napa sold me last year with correct ones (they sold me the ones with the external rubber seals as opposed to the internal seals).  And I installed the rear and fromt brake shoes  from Musclecarbrakes.com; bleed the lines and have all new fluid in the lines.

In testing the car today, it seemed that the rear drums got a little warmer than what I expected.  I could smell a little of something in the garage after I parked the car.  And the drums were hot to touch.  Do I need to back off the adjusters a little?  Not difficult as the drums have the little slot to reach the adjuster wheel with the notches; But a pain to pull the tires off.  Car stops real good, except the rear drivers side brake locks up to soon, if I get on the brakes to  hard.

If the rears lock up on you before the fronts, their too far adjusted.

If I recall correctly, press the emergency brake pedal in three clicks and the adjust the wheel until there is just a little drag.

Go out and find a safe place and then stand on the brakes to confirm (at safe speed),

x2... and they'll take awhile to "bed in" and match the actual contour/radius of the drum. They'll smell a little until the glues & material get cooked a bit. Expect braking performance to improve and anticipate another adjustment (or do a few hard stops in reverse after a few thousand miles).
