it's the mall chase scene. IIRC, John D said he grew up there and the mall was getting demolished after they were done?

It was a mall development that flopped, and was vacant (like Brookdale). The studio cam in and did false storefronts, etc. and filmed there.

When they get pulled over with "I bet that cop's got SCMODS..." was near my old neighborhood. The house they stop in front of was where I earned my Aviation merit badge!

You have to see one of the best videos on the net right now then. A guy completely built and filmed the mall chase scene from Lego's. In real time perfectly in sync with the movie too.

A side by side comparison.

Behind the scenes video on how he made the set, filmed and edited it. Many hours of work.
