Went to Rock Falls for the muscle car drags on Saturday and ended up with my first racing trophy. Not as impressive as the collection in Keith's thread, but I went 3 rounds and ended up 2nd in the 12.0 class. I got beat in the final by reaction time, my .223 to his .060. I made up some time, but still lost 12.21 to 12.22 .
I'm hoping it was the humidity and not the new mufflers or drag radials because I was about 1/4 second and 4 mph slower than last year. I talked to some other guys and they said everyone was down on power so we'll see how it goes next time.

Me being slower this year might be tire related. Last year I had some old slicks that ended up getting a sidewall rub so I bought a new set of drag radials for the track. I was spinning a little with the new tires, but it is Rock Falls, it's always slippery.

What tire pressure were you running ? With the M/T you have they seem to run good with 16-18lb air warmed up. Got to warm them up real good to get to stick. To much air and they spin to little speed will be slower. The tire size may have some part in trap speed. Usually if you spin a little in the beginning the trap speed will be higher at least for me, but if I spin even withthe higher trap speed time is down. The slicks will grow down the track where the M/T radials remain pretty constant and do NOT grow. ie 28 slick may grow over about an inch going down the track at speed effectively 29". If you trap speed was down weather or new mufflers may have contributed. Most likely it was the weather if everyone was down and it was a constant for all then I would say it was weather. Will not know till you make more runs.
Did you remember to empty the trunk ? take the spare & jack out : )
I wish I was there congrats on your first racing trophy. So close on times 12.21 to 12.22 that damn reaction time get us all the time. .223 to .060. Races are won or lost in the first 60ft.
