I was on the fence and just fell off on the no go side. Only thing that interests me is the road course portion. Two major events two weekends in a row poses a challenge with the work schedule. Car Craft will always be my first choice.

I will plan to do it next year for sure.

I think Keith nailed it.  Too many other big events near that date to interest me.  Pan-O-Prog cruise is also that Friday night, and the show is on Saturday, so I'll be going to that.

And yes, 2 days at CC will wear me out, so being gone the weekend before is too much for this old guy...

I think a lot of people are turned off that unless they were already registered at the 60 dollar mark. At 120 or 150 dollars is a bit hard to take on their wallets.

Is anyone else going?  Matt & I are planning on going.  May have a couple of Matt's friends (extended family, if you know what I mean) going.  Not sure if we will make it Friday, may just be Saturday & Sunday.

Got home from the cabin around noon, and by request of the "General" dumped my dirty clothes down the chute - then "40 watt Garage" time!!

Blackie is now ready for BIR & PowerCruise!!

Trans fluid & filter change (Less than 1K on new gearbox, but for peace of mind dropped the pan. Pleased to report minimal "sparklies" in the pan/magnet).
Rear Diff lube change (1st time since install of "PowerTrax Locker"... again, minimal sparklies)
Brake Fluid flush/exchange (sucked nearly a quart of new brake juice through all the lines)
Engine Oil & Filter

Kiss my tailgate trailer queens!
He's ready!

Great 1st day - turned a dozen or so laps... took it easy, there's two days to go.

Hooked up with "Gup" for a few minutes (when he wasn't running around crazy-person) and got a good look at his Holden HSV - with a Sonny's 727. This thing is NUTS!

Mayhem wasn't absent. My buddy's nephew-in-law had a minor problem. Coming out of turn 10 (? - last one before the bridge) he got on it and BANGCRUNCHHHH and coasted to the side. Took 1/2 the teeth off the input shaft main & secondary bull gears. (T-56)

More tomorrow

Good day yesterday. NCC's representation went up by 50%. Loren B, his son, and two buddies arrived.

Had the dyno going today. A very nasty street-legal Duster with a 572 pulled nearly 800hp at the wheels, then a Mazda RX-7 with a 2-rotor Wankel did nearly 500hp at the wheels using 22psi of boost.

Today is the day. The competitions start, and trophies will be awarded.

Got home about 5pm. Just got done with dinner/cleanup/shower after getting back.

Today was a washout - literally. About 15 miles south from the cabin we ran into light rain, about 25 miles it was buckets. Pulled into BIR about 9:00am and going down into the infield to the condo building there was 4" to 6" of water on any of the grass areas. Cars parked on the grass had water 1/2-way up to the hubs.

We parked by the "Wheelie Bar" and went inside. There were a bunch of the Aussie's and BIR staff in there, and they hadn't made a decision yet. Loren & the boys showed up around 10, and hung around for another hour or so. They headed home. Kyle & I stuck around till about noon, and got the official word that the days events were cancelled. I went up to "Gup's" room, said "gbye mate, see you next year" and we headed back to the cabin.

Packed up our stuff and headed south. Lotsa fun... about 100 miles in sometimes torrential downpours. The underside of the car is clean!

Your car looks like a pedal car next to that truck!

That truck was NUTZ.
A GMC 3500HD Diesel Crew-Cab long-box, with 36's & a 4" lift. I should've got a pic of the SMART car parked in front of it!! The front bumper of the truck was only about 8" from the top of the roof!

Sorry for the delay on this - finally found the link - I was back "home" when this happened...

After the scheduled events were over on Saturday, Gup took his car out on the track to "show us how it's done" and had a little mishap... Fireball

No real damage, other than the loss of some arm hair. The fire was out as fast as it started. I heard it was either a trans seal or oil cooler fitting sprayed fluid onto the headers.

Plus the cost to buy or build anything in Australia is no less the double the cost as it is here. Everything from groceries to buying a brand new vehicle to restoring an old one. It amazes me they can afford to do any of that stuff down there. Even stuff made in Australia cost twice as much as it does anywhere else in the world. We can buy Australian brand names like Billabong swimwear and thier line of clothing here in the USA cheaper then the Aussies can and its made there too.

I'm guessing he had to lay down a very large chunk of change at the customs office down under in order to bring that car over here.

That's why so many U.S. collector cars went the way over the big pond to the 'land down under' after the recession when the U.S. dollar tanked...  I appreciate their love of classic cars, but hated to see them leave the U.S.
