Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the tail light bezels on a '69 without removing the fender extension?

I don't think so... pretty sure the extension has to come off.

They have to come off but they are only 4 speed nuts per side. Maybe drop the bumper but that is only 6 bolts.

The bumper shouldn't need to be messed with, but it is a bit tricky getting the extension off since the bottom of it wants to hook the bumper. I've had mine off and on a few times without dropping the bumper. You have to pull straight out, then rotate it downward, then push back inward and lift up.

One thing to watch for is if the car was painted with the extensions on if the clearcoat is bridged across the seam, to make sure it doesn't crack and flake off when you break it loose. If there is a thick layer of clearcoat across it, you may want to carefully score it with a razor blade as you're taking it loose.

Derek I agree on the bumper as long as its hanging on the car correctly and not too far in or pushed up.

Sorry Jeff... gotta ask.  Why are you replacing the bezels?  Scratched, faded, wrong date code?
