98 Honda Accord need trans work

1998 Honda Accord EX V6 3.0 125K miles, black, 4 door.  Engine runs great but the automatic transmission is acting up. Worked fine from Kevin's place but next day started to slip and shift wierd. Now it takes about 1.5K - 2K rpm for the drive and about 1.5K rpm for reverse.

Fluid is clean, and full, checked the two main soleniods and they worked, screens were clean.  Not sure what else to check. Bad TQ, ?

Asking $1500 / BO though I may decide to keep it and have Master Transmission rebuild it or I may depending on if I can find the time.

Good - Engine runs great, I was getting 26 mpg. Uses very little oil.  Remote start. Cruise, AC, ABS, auto climate control, moon roof,  newer alternator, replaced valve cover gaskets, pcv valve and cleaned out the EGR port. Newer brakes all around...rotors and premium pads.

So-So - Body has it's fair share of dings and some rust. Tires could go for another season.

Bad.  The trans obvioulsy, the interior is grubby but I have seat covers. Temp gauge works when it wants...tap the dash and it responds.  The tach is off but not sure if it the remote start.

John, you may want to check into just fixing it. Or pull the transmission yourself. The 98 and up Accords still get pretty good money, even with a bad transmission. Honda is known for making some pretty good quality cars but they sure did build a horrible auto transmission for a few years in the late 90's and early 00's. Same with the Acura TL's. Every time ive ever seen an Acura or Accord with a bad transmission on Craigslist, they never lasted more then a day.

Also, they dont like going past 100K in the original timing belt. With 125K it needs to be changed as well if it hasnt. I may have to think about giving this 00 Grand Prix back to my parents and take a look at this Accord instead.
