I have an original 66 chevelle mirror that I am thinking of restoring. But kind of shocked at the price by the Mirror Lady . She just quoted me about $300 with dated glass. I wonder if there might be some less expensive options? I do have an original mirror in excellent condition on the car now; but its for a later 67 Chevelle that did not have the bowtie. Maybe if someone is interested it that mirror to help defray the cost. I see correct reproductions available for around $60; but not dated. Poor incorrect reproduction without the snap ring, etc for around $30. Thanks.
Might not find it that much cheaper. Ive found they arent cheap to have done. Is it the outside mirror or the rear view mirror? I plan to replace my door mirror. It doesnt stay in place and the mounting is loose. I never really considered having it restored, I guess its not worth the 300 dollar expense to me. But thats just me personally.

When I dug it out this morning, it was much better than I though. Base was perfect as was the glass, Just a few minor pits from age on the backside chrome of the glass. Have to get within 2 feet to see anything. So I have it installed and will see the late 67 mirror. Looks like you would have to break the glass to get the snap ring on that holds the glass in.
I think I have read somewhere of a procedure to help tighten up the area around the swivel ball, so it stay put. Looks like I will have to go into mirror restoration.
