Please put your first name/location in your 'Signature'

When we went to this this forum, we lost the member 'name' and 'location' on the avatar pic.

I noticed that Mitch added his first name into his signature, which I think is a great idea as others have expressed that it's hard to know the name of the forum member without clicking on their user link.

So, I'm asking everyone at a minimum to add their first name and the initial of their last name along with their location into their 'Signature'.  If you aren't comfortable putting down a specific location, at least put something like 'SE MSP Metro' or 'Northern Iowa' so that we have some idea where you are.

To do this, go to the 'User CP/Details' link at the top center of the page and then click on the 'Signature' button to make the changes.  You can change the font, color, etc. as you desire.

You can view my signature as an example.

Thanks for your help on this.

Stan

FYI - Unfortunately the forum software does not have a mandatory "real name" entry field... you only have to enter a "handle" if you want to.

In my opinion. If you are already using your name as a username like many of us are. Then a location in your signature is all thats necessary.

That doesn't give your location (if you're willing to share).  Sometimes it's nice to know if someone is near you for lending a hand, hooking up for a cruise-in, borrowing tools, etc.

I think it's about 50/50 on the user name being the same as the first name.

I still suggest putting a first name/last initial and location in the signature.  It's easy and helps everyone.

I understand the location thing. My reference is for the username part. Since im Chris R as a username. Its kind of redundant (and a touch odd IMO) to put my name in my signature as well. I did it anyways though.
