The plan is to meet Sat. morning at Tony Hoffer's at 7 A.M. then we'll roll out no later than 7:30 A.M. to Rock Falls (weather permitting).

Please post if you are planning on attending and meeting at Tony's or meeting at the track.

I'm in!

Should be a great time even if you don't bring a car to race.  I'm sure the members that do race would gladly accept some pit crew help!

Good to hear she's on the road!

I just rented a U-Haul trailer on line for pickup on Friday.  It's about $60/day, so well worth the peace of mind to me in case there's a break down if I drove the Chevelle.  Would probably be o.k. driving it, but I'm the guy that would have something go wrong at the track and not make it home...

We'll see you at the track.  We'll have the NCC banner up so I'm sure you will find us.

When are you making the "Go" "No-Go" decision based on weather?  I agree though the weather can turn for the better over the next few days.  Are you thinking Thursday?

Shannan and I plan on going weather permitting.  We will be meeting the club at the track and will not be racing anything.

We will need to make a decision by early Friday afternoon as some of us are renting trailers, and would need 24 hour notice to cancel the trailer.

If this weekend doesn't work out, there is the Rock Falls Muscle Car Race on Sat., June 11th that might work also.

As the newsletter coordinator, I nominate someone to take some good pics of the action. I didn't get too many last year. I want on the line shots-especially of club member showdowns and burnouts!

Something along the lines of this, but probably better:

Here's a video since I came across it again:

I'm all ready to go too. I gotta say though- the weather report isn't too encouraging. I'll wait til Thursday too- and make the final call then. If the weather is good, I'll be there!

I sent Jennifer an email yesterday on general stuff, but haven't heard back yet.  Will keep everyone posted.

Weather Channel is still saying 74 degrees with 40% chance of T-showers.  At least it's not calling for steady rain at this point.

I could be a photo-mate for an hour; we could share the duty.  I don't think anyone wants to be watching the events through a camera lens all day.

So I'll volenter to do the first hour. Who wants to relieve me and take the duty for the next hour? Then the next hour?

By the way I'll need a camera.

I would be glad to bring my camera along. Would probably need some help on the settings part since there will be moving shots involved. Its just a point a shoot camera. Not a high end SLR but it does make nice quality shots. These sort of action shots will be new for me so ill have to see how to set this thing for that.

Frank, sorry to hear that.  Hoping you are on the recovery and we'll have to do another event so you and others that can't make it can join us then.

Thanks John D.!

Anyone bringing a portable propane grill or do they have a food stand there?  Gotta think about food too!

I'm throwing in my portable canopy for coverage in case of wet stuff...

There's a concession stand near the tower for food, they have shirts too.

Last year, we brought some food and stuff since where we parked was at the finish line area.

Got an email from Jake who runs Minnesota Motorhead (mentioned them at the last meeting), sounds like he will be there. I told him to stop by and say Hi. nice guy, he bought a set of Vortecs and valve covers from me a while back.

The national weather service has an 80% chance of rain on Saturday and a 40% on Sunday..no who knows if its an 80% of 5 minute sprinkle or an all day downpour? I out a call in to Jennifer to see at what point they make the call to switch to Sunday. From past experince its usually the morning of.

EVENT STATUS:

We have 3 options for drag racing as Tony and I see it due to the potential for rain since the forecast continues to get worse (constant rain on Sat. now):

1. Wait for Rock Falls to make a decision to either postpone to Sunday or cancel all together-Their decision likely won't happen until early Sat. a.m. (will cause an issue for those renting trailers to cancel with 24 hour notice)

2. IF they postpone to Sunday, go then (still a chance of T-Storms but probably more dry time during the day)

3. Reschedule our event to Saturday, June 11th for the Muscle Car Drags and hope the weather is better

We will make a decision by Noon on Friday based on the forecast.

For personal reasons, my preference is to reschedule to the Muscle Car Drags on June 11th as I need to leave on Sun. for business, and the weather on Sun. still has a good chance for wet conditions.

I'm also thinking some of our members might have their cars ready by then that wouldn't make it this weekend.

I talked to someone today that goes to the Muscle Car drags, and they said it's a great time with other makes/models there on the track as well.

Stay tuned for the update tomorrow.

If we all planned to go to the track and it doesnt happen. We might as well get together in someones garage and BS for the day then. I figure we all had our schedules clear to do this. No point in letting it go to waste.

If was you guys, I would just wait until the Muscle Car drags. There are 2-3 times more cars there, so much more to see. When it rains on and off, it's worse than just rain and cancel. You sit around for an hour after it rains, waiting for it to dry, then it just sprinkles again and the wait starts over.

Last Sunday there were a bunch of breakdowns and they got way behind schedule, a couple more weeks will help people get their bugs worked out too. Anyways, have fun either way, I'll be there in June either way.

EVENT IS OFFICIALLY MOVED TO JUNE 11TH!

SAME BAT TIME, SAME BAT CHANNEL FOR MEETING UP AT TONY H.'S HOUSE AT 7 A.M. SAT., JUNE 11TH & ROLL OUT AT 7:30 A.M.

The forecast has only gotten worse for Rock Falls tomorrow, and Sunday is still a 40% chance of TStorms.  We've surveyed those that were planning on going tomorrow, and the 11th seems to work for everyone at this point.

This will give a few more folks time to finish their cars and be able to go too.

Sorry to do this, but wanted to give people time to adjust as well as block off their calendars for 3 weeks from now.  Hopefully everyone understands and pays homage to the sun gods so that we have dry weather on the the 11th!

Pass the word if you know someone that planned on going and isn't on the forum.  Thank you.
