Got my posi unit installed today! Good news bad news.

Finally got my posi unit installed today.  When the rear end was apart it was a good news bad news issue.  Ring and pinion wer immacculate but both axles had bad scoring from too long a life on the original bearings.  Two new axles and a posi unit and back on the road again.

Unfortunately when it was on the hoist I noticed a liquid drip from around one of the seat belt bolt holes.  Looks like one of my top pistons is leaking.  Just when I thought I was ready for summer, I get to tear the interior apart and try and find what is leaking.  Tomorrow is another day.

It's always something with these 40 year old cars, but that's part of the 'experience'!

I'm sure you will get it figured out.

I agree Stan.  Not the first time I have had the interior out.

Jon,

Give me a call if you need my pump/fill/bleeder jug. Would be happy to help one evening this week, but don't have any free. I am flying to Oakland, CA on Tuesday, to Boise, ID on Thursday and home late on Friday. If you need it we may be able to hook up on Monday?

Are those pumps rebuildable or are they fully sealed and not designed to be dissassembled?

Yeah, just walking into to this you'd think they were at Fantasy House Gifts...

Heck, this might be as simple as a 1/4 turn on the ram fitting Jon.

The rams and pumps are rebuildable, they sell o-ring kits for them. I didn't have much luck with rebuilding my pump, so I replaced it.

Thanks Loren. Tore the interior out Saturday and I can't find the Source. Thinking it might be from when I bled the pump last summer and maybe spilled more than I thought. Wiped everything down and left some shop rags in appropriate places just in case there is something I couldn't see and I will find next time I am in their.

And yes guys, why would you own a convert if it wern't for the jugs and pumps, etc?

Is there a way to check for loss of oil in the system? A fill plug or something?

There is a plug, but not an easy process to check.
