Gas prices.

The SA down the street is at 3.49 a gallon. I drove another block and it was 3.27 a gallon. Looks like the oil companies are going to strangle us even more then they have been lately.emote.img?ID=15264

You can thank Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi and the folks over in Egypt. Anytime there's unrest in the greater Middle East the oil prices go into pogo-stick mode.

My finance guy even called me last night wondering if I'd like to "move some stuff around" or ride it out for awhile. Doesn't matter what you've got your money in, sooner or later it gets hooked to oil.

Wihtin our lifetime the US will most likely lose its "world reserve monetary" status if we cant get production up and control debt..
... Thats when we get to pay what the rest of the world does... If it happened tomorrow.. $6.50 a gallon overnight.

I heard on the news that the 'Libya factor' is not because we get much oil from them... but China and Russia do.  If they can't get theirs from Libya, they will go on the world market and oil prices will really go up!  And who said a global economy is a good thing?

I think I'm going to invest in gas price signs, specifically the numbers 4 and 5.

What I can't figure out is why the heck the US hasn't been smart enough to get an agreement done with Canada to purchase exclusively from them, like the chinese did for Urainium not too long ago. Agree to pay a premium over the current barrel price, but have the price set for 10 years. This would raise prices instantly here, but would provide stability which is what I think most Americans and businesses want. Then we can stop hoping that the people of the middle east stop fighting (since they have been fighting for thousands of years it is bound to stop soon right?) That also then gives times for real alternatives to be put into action... instead of people believing in the electric car will be the answer.

Whaddya mean it's not the answer? Less gas price for the consumer is a good thing right? Who cares about your home electric bill, or the fact that businesses will feel forced into installing (and charging employees for) electric car parking spots with hookups, and that your electric car battery will most likely be leased since the cost to replace it is over $1000.

I'm waiting for a solar powered hybrid convertible wagon myself.
