PICNIC CHECK IN-EVERYONE MAKE IT HOME?????

We had a great time, lots of people, but there was some mechanical problems. Mine cut part of my belt, but it's home. I took it really easy. Craig broke a pushrod tip off but thanks to new member Chad who donated a rod and Chris P for actually having it in his shop it got running again. New member Don lost a upper control arm bolt and bushing, but they were with the car, so Chris P and Steve (with the pro street '67) got it in. As I was leaving Chad was doing a nice burnout, but suddenly it sounded like a slot machine when you hit PAYOUT. Looks like a new rear end is headed his way.

Hope everyone made it back. Pics turned out nice, I will load some tomorrow.

A great big THANK YOU to ChrisP (67 SS) and Kim for inviting our club to thier late summer picnic. There was more than enough food for everyone and their families. Tractor rides were a huge success for the kids.

Bryan. Didnt you say the guy with that coral and grey 55 was a member now also? You can chock up a rearend on that 55 then. Completly trashed it when he did a burnout on the road as many of us were loading up our gear to head out. I think I was the only one standing by the road when it happened.

Should also mention the amount of tire rubber left behind as well.biggrin

This was one heck of a picnic. The kids had a blast with the hay rides and I was impressed with the amount of cars from the club and outside of the club that showed up.

I wish I would have gotten a group picture of all the cars in the "car show" area.

Plus the food was outstanding.

Thanks to Chris and his family for inviting us.

Made it home fine - a little nervous during "bambi time" until we got to more urban surroundings.
Craig & I split off at 694 & 100. He reported no problems at a gas stop midway.

Little Cale topped the event - at 3 years old (?) he's already able to scratch 1 item off his "bucket list"! ...
- "spend the evening with a set of gorgeous blonde twins and have them hugging/smootching/hanging all over me" (lucky little bugger biggrin)

Thank You Chris & Kim!

Pulled in around 10:30 last night. Stopped for coffee twice. Took 35E on the way home to avoid some of the stop lights we ran into following Garmin's route on the way there.

We enjoyed the evening with all the good food, visiting with the people there, meeting other club members and seeing some cars I have not seen before.

Thanks to Chris and crew for putting this on.

Yep, that's Chad. Chris P is building a big block for his 69 Chevelle. Looks like a 10 or 12 bolt is in order....... I really like that color combination.

There's some really good pics of the individual cars. Chris R and I both took pics. I used a new to me camera that is a big daddy do everything one, so I also used my regualr one. The big daddy took some really nice pics (even my car looked pretty nice with good light), and between those 2 and what Chris got, we should be good for calendar shots for these cars: Roy (silver 70), Don (71 convert), Stan (green 72), Craig (gold 72), Doug (black 70 Elky), me (red 72). We still need 6 more member's cars, preferably new members or cars that haven't been in the calendar yet. Chris R is heading up that project.

Here's a sampling of the pics I got. I am holding off on showing the onces for the calendar just yet-watch the newsletter for some of those.

Oh yeah, here's what was in attendance:
8 club members chevelles-see above pic
1967 Pro-street chevelle w/o engine, silver
1969 Chevelle tunnel ram, orange
1967 Camaro EFI, supercharged, blue
19?? Dodge Charger, blue
19?? Mustang convert drag car, red
1978 (?) Olds Cutlass Silver (Oscar Z)
1964 Nova, blue
1967 Camaro convert, gold
19?? Camaro convert, white
1967 (?) Biscayne
1955 Chev
1960s Fairlane (?)

There were several cars that have been there in the past that did not show up, but I would consider that a pretty good turnout huh?

There were 19 cars total that I counted. Which is a great turn out in my book. Glad everyone had a good time and the few break downs were repairable with the exception of the rear end. Speaking of rearends looking for a 10 or 12 bolt 67-69 camaro rear end to install in that 55 if anybody knows of something.

Add one more mechanical issue to the list... Overdrive is slipping in my 4L60e :( I started to notice it on the way to the picnic after meeting at WhiteCastle.

I didn't. Wasn't thinking there would be anyone doing them, so I wasn't ready. Chris and I did get a couple decent pics of Joe's car though (not calendar good, but decent)
