Aussie Utes On The Hot Rod Power Tour
Permalink

Got back today from Springfield, IL after two days on the Power Tour.  Hung out with my buddy Robert and four of his mates.  They shipped three Holden HSV Maloos over just to run the Power Tour.  These guys are a riot.  They're posting videos on Youtube under Aus2USAPowertour.   This video is the best so far.   This is Robert in the red supercharged Ute doing a burnout in the parking lot at the hotel in Iowa.  The cop pulls in after he's done.  He said he saw all the smoke and thought the hotel was on fire.  Notice the '60s era squad car?  Pretty sneaky if you ask me.  Barney Fife let him go with a stern warning.

The blue one is also supercharged and the white one is still n/a.

If GM brings these to the US and doesn't F them up like they did with the GTO, I will buy one.   They are very cool.  And not as big and heavy as I thought they'd be.  They look great going down the road.

That's really sneaky using that old Ford while the power-tour is going on!

Cool video, but the 60's Galaxie and the cop look staged to me.  biggrin

That Ute is cool and a right hand driver too!

Definitely not staged.  Guarantee it.

Yes, Australia is one of the countries in the minority that drive on the left side of the road.

Here are a few video clips I shot in Springfield that show utes in more detail.

If that's the case, I'm with Derek.  That's just not fair to use an 'old' cop car to mix in with the other hot rods and then bust people.  I've seen other restored old cop cars at car shows and always wondered how 'legal' it was to drive them on the street?  As we used to say back in the day... 'with cherries on the roof'!  wink
