Derek has a more vested interest in this, but I thought it was really interesting. Just having the 100 year old tooling to be able to do this job is amazing.

Cool video!
Auto Value store in St. Cloud still does babbitt in their machine shop. That's where the machine work on my T engine was done... not many shops out there that can still do it!

People have tried putting insert bearings in them, but they don't live long in an engine without pressurized oiling.
I think Chevy had poured bearings in the rods of the 6cyl engines well into the 60s, since only the mains were pressurized on some of them.
