No, it's not all work all the time, but when you have a place that's not occupied every day - you get surprises when you do show up...
Like a 30+ foot pine tree that gave up the fight and fell. It didn't cause any damage, but it had to get cleared out of the way. Spent the better part of a morning with Mr. Stihl chopping it up into manageable hunks, then down to the corner store to rent a splitter.

Very glad for you that it didn't hit anything.They cause some damage.
When a Basswood fell at my Dad's cabin we were taking care of, after he passed, it landed on the garage roof.

Been there done that, even got a dirty T-shirt. For years by brother, parents and in-laws had four places I maintained. I can still put together a dock, water system and shore station in my sleep!

I have trouble taking care of the house Vickie and I live in, never enough time. Same for the "Treasure Chest" AKA The weed garden.
We pay others for mowing, fertilizing, sprinkler repairs at home. Currently paying to rip out 20+ year old landscaping. This year refreshed Deck, removed old lower patio, boulder walls, regrading property. Expand patio, replace pavers with concrete. Also need to replace front steps and walkway.
Future at home; replace siding, driveway, and re-landscape. House was built in 1997. Kill weeds at Treasure Chest and expand drive/parking area.
Too old and too lazy to do it myself. Save up and pay to get it done. Had a lot more energy in the 70s to 90s, not so now.

that is too bad but looks like it could have been a lot worse.
Having multiple places to maintain is tough and seems to get a bit harder as time goes by.

Looks like a nice relaxing day at the cabin!
I inherited a semi wooded 2 acre lot with large 2 car garage and slightly used park model (with pump house, electric, phone and septic) about 10 years ago. It was on the north edge of Voyager Village between Danbury and Hayward WI. I considered keeping it, but with all the tall thin jack pines looming overhead and not enough time to go up and enjoy it, we sold it off. Got enough to pay off the park model loan, cover the note on the land, and pay off the garage materials, but it was quick and simple.
A couple years later we were offered my in-laws place on water in Moose Lake (next lake north of Sturgeon Lake, same exit), and the same thing) I Would have spent so much time maintaining and fixing that it wasn't going to be worth it in the long run. My in-laws sold it outside the family, paid off their new home and are enjoying living on the cheap until they gotta go into a "home"
As it is now, I have a fully finished big house that will only have 2 of in it most of the year from now on. Can't justify selling because my mortgage is ridiculously low compared to what we could get into with downsizing, even with all the equity we have. I'll just keep doing updates for now, next up will be new backyard landscaping.
