When I first started in this industry 25+ years ago, I didn't have much time/experience "at height". I still get oogie working on ladders, but boom/scissor lifts (up to about 50') are OK.
The safety protocols we need to follow are extensive. Tie-Offs, "swing" protection, drop calculations, etc. A lot of this stuff is a PITA, but it's all in place so you go home at the end of the day.
You can get killed as easily from a fall from a 6' stepladder as slipping off a water tower.
As I tell "noobs" to working in these conditions... "It's not the height to worry about, it's the stop at the bottom!"
