Rachael and I went for a ride yesterday just in case it was the last opportunity of the year. Made sure I had my tools, spare tire, etc just in case. A couple of miles out of town car started missing, so I turned around to head home. Car stoped, no juice to turn over or for lights.
Popped the hood, things looked OK. No things not OK. Pos terminal of battery very hot along with compressor pulley. Compressor pulley wore through insulation of battery cable.
Good thing the farmer driving by with his tractor and bailer was an old student. He pushed the car by hand until it was headed down hill and I pulled in his driveway. Now to figure out what happened.Luckily all fuses good. Battery dead, dead, dead. Taped up battery cable and threw on his charger. After 5 minuets car started right up and we finished our drive with no other problems.
I think the battery shorted out to the compressor and drained the battery dead. Any other thoughts?

That's a new one for me, great that someone lent you a hand.

When my car was still all original, a motor-mount broke, and the A/C compressor wore a hole through the top radiator hose.

Beer drinkers from way back in HS (farm boys), looks like I will be dropping of a couple of 12 packs.
