The dates on that registration page are the ones Bonnier has listed for the Du Quoin, IL show. I wonder if they put the wrong location on it. I have sent emails, messaged them on FaceBook and called to find out if they have any updated on when they will be opening the registrations for the MN show, but I have not received any response.

I was wondering the same thing Hank.
Derek and I were talking at the Bowtie Brunch about the Goodguys show in Des Moines that happens over the 4th of July weekend and how it's better than SMN's in a few ways, so I'm considering going there if there aren't any SMN's any longer, or even just something different this year. Nice little 3-4 hour drive down there plus we have some family to stay with for a safe place to keep the car overnight.

We did the Goodguys show a few years ago with the '38 and stayed in our travel trailer at a state park in Ankeny. It is a nice venue and gets crowded with much less space than MSF grounds. If you and Derek are going to go, I/we, may plan on it too. Not sure if Barb would go again, although she did like the many craft vendors in the coliseum building, not so much all the car "stuff' in the convention type building...

I just talked to someone at Bonnier. They are still trying to get dates confirmed for the St. Paul show. They are receiving a number of calls from people and know that people are wanting information so they can make hotel reservations, but they do not have them yet. They did not volunteer what the delay is and I did not ask because I figure they would not tell me anyways. They did not have an ETA on when the dates would be finalized. I did let them know about the wrong location on ExpoHour.com site.

Goodguys on the 4th of July is looking better all the time.
Family and I are taking a 2 week RV trip out west and "could" swing back through Des Moines (we have a house to stay at if needed as rest of in-law family with be at Lake of Ozarks), but Ankeny is only ~ 30 min away and we will have the RV already!!
I'm planning the routes and I am reserving the trip plans over the next 2-3 weeks.
I'll plan to include a stop at Goodguys on the way home. Most likely will be staying overnight on the 3rd, hanging out the 4th, and driving back to MPLS that night. RV return is due on the 5th.

You need to stay and watch the fireworks, it was very good the year we were there. Only 4 hours back to Mpls, so could still catch a good nights rest, leave at 6 am and be back by 10 am...
I'm undecided. The wife isn't interested. I'd drive down at midnight Saturday, but that won't do much good, as I would need to get thru registration when they open.

I'll probably go on foot for a day, but I have no idea if I'll be able to get the car out of my driveway.. the entire neighborhood is getting all of the roads, roadbed, curbs, stormsewer, sewer, water, and gas lines redone this summer. To the tune of a $6,600 Tax assessment.

I still haven't paid to register yet since there isn't much of a price difference versus the hassle if it gets cancelled.

It may be they are keeping their options open in case health issues change for the better. I wonder if the fairgrounds are actually on board with their plan. I think tomorrows decision on whether the fair is going to take place or not may change things. I don't see the fair board opening the grounds if the fair is not going to happen.

Received a survey from SMN today, with a couple of questions.
If the MN State Fair does not allow the hosting of the SMN THIS YEAR, would I request a refund and attend next year or travel for the show.
If willing to travel for the show, how far? 30 to 60 minutes, 2 to 3 hours or over 4 hours.
Will keep you posted on what develops.

Yep, over here in "Sconsin" It's wide open and back to business. Still, most of the county fairs have cancelled for this year. It isn't all that far to go for SMN to cross the river and set up here. No clue where they would though, as both St Croix and Pierce county fairgrounds are 30-45 miles from the river.

We are monitoring the situation closely and continuing to search for ways to keep the 2020 Street Machine Nationals in St. Paul on the calendar, including relocating the event in the region (this year only) if the venue will not accommodate us.

As most of us figured. The fairgrounds officially informed the SMN crew they would not be able to hold the event here...Just posted on Facebook...
STREET MACHINE NATIONALS ST PAUL - UPDATE: For the last several months our team has been working with the officials at the fairgrounds in St. Paul to prepare for our annual Street Machine Nationals. Despite our best effort, the fairgrounds informed us that they are unable to host our event there this year. We felt that it was important to share this information with you as soon as we could so that you can make appropriate plans.
At the same time, we know that our audience is eager to have an event and has expressed a desire for us to find a solution to be able to hold a nearby event that still delivers for our exhibitors, show vehicles, and attendees a similar world-class show. Based on this feedback we are aggressively pursuing alternative options that will allow us to deliver on this desire.
We appreciate all the tremendous backing we have received from our stakeholders. It is heartening to know how much you all value this event and we are humbled by the feedback and support for our event and our efforts to keep it on track. We will have an announcement regarding a new location within the next week.

Received this email at 1:40 PM today....
Good Afternoon St. Paul Participant,
For the last several months our team has been working with officials at the state fairgrounds in St. Paul to prepare for our annual Street Machine Nationals. Despite our best effort, the fairgrounds informed us that they are unable to host our event this year. We felt that it was important to share this information with you as soon as possible.
We know our audience is eager to have an event and has expressed a desire for us to find a solution to be able to hold a nearby event that still delivers a similar world-class show. Based on this feedback we are aggressively pursuing alternative options that will allow us to deliver on this desire.
If we are able to reschedule the event, unfortunately it will not take place the original weekend of July 17-19, 2020 due to all of the logistics needed to make a show of this caliber happen. However, if we are able to reschedule it for a different location/weekend in 2020, we expect to make an announcement by the weekend of 7/17.
If we are able to secure a new location, we will automatically transfer your registration to the new dates and if you are not able to make the new date, you will be able to request a refund of your registration (and T-shirt order if applicable) minus the service fee of $3 per vehicle. At this time you do not need to take any action as we will not be processing refunds until we are able to determine if we will offer a new location.
If you have purchased camping at the St. Paul Fairgrounds, we will be processing those refunds within 30 days and you do not need to take any action.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate through this unprecedented situation we find ourselves in. We will be in touch later in July with more information.
Sincerely,
Bonnier Events

If you have not heard, the Street Machine Nationals have been canceled.
Dear St. Paul Street Machine Nationals Participant,
Regretfully, as we have been unable to secure a suitable venue to host our event, the 2020 Street Machine Nationals in St. Paul has been postponed indefinitely. We will continue our efforts to hold an event in the area later this year and will provide updates if and when any progress is made.
Registered Participants can choose to transfer their registration to a future Street Machine Nationals event in St Paul by completing THIS FORM no later than Sunday, July 19th, 2020. If you would rather a refund, you do not need to take any action as your registration will be refunded automatically within 30 days (minus the $3 per vehicle handling charge).
All transfer requests must be received by filling out this link only no later than Sunday, July 19th, 2020. Please do not email your request. If you choose to fill out the form to transfer, this credit will need to be used for either the 2021 St. Paul event or the event held later this year if we can secure a venue. After July 19th, all remaining participant registrations will be scheduled for a refund. We will start to process refunds starting the week of July 20th and we anticipate they will all be completed within 2-4 weeks.
Any participant that had made a camping reservation will also be refunded automatically starting on July 20th.
The staff of the Street Machine Nationals appreciates your patience and support as we work through this unexpected situation.
Thought I'd start a fresh post here regarding no dates yet for the SMN's.
