The wife got me money for Christmas to get an air hose reel. She just said I had to pick one out. I started doing some looking and prices range from $50 to $200. There's enclosed reel's and there's exposed I'll call them. Rubber hose, hybrid hoses, poly hoses, etc. DeWalt, Flexzilla, Goodyear, and every other name under the sun. Does anyone have a recommendation of what they've been using and have been happy with?
I have an inexpensive open version I bought at Fleet Farm years ago and it has always works for me. A good friend has had an enclosed Craftsman with the same luck. I like the open version because I can keep an eye on the exposed ratcheting mechanism.
I’ve heard the ultimate is a Graco model but is BIG bucks!
I just did a quick search and Eastman has an open version on sale for $99. Looks like a nice unit.

My research, a long time ago, suggested they were all so similar, it made little difference, other than price.
Your link to the Clutch brand, at Northern is what I have an early version of, and it has been great. I'm willing to bet mine was used far more during my trucking days, than yours would be and has never given me any trouble. It's also on sale for $90 right now. Seems to be a great price.
Not sure what the hybrid hose is, but you want the best flexibility to prevent tangling of excess on the floor and while rewinding. Plastic hose is nothing but a PITA and I didn't get any feel for what this reel has from the specs. The reviews seem very good.

A couple sites rated this Goodyear as the number one (CLICK HERE FOR LINK), but is it really that much different than something that looks identical but is a Northern name brand (CLICK HERE FOR LINK). Otherwise there's the external hose reel's like this. (CLICK HERE FOR LINK) OR (CLICK HERE FOR LINK)
Is one better than the other?
Thanks guys and Merry Christmas!!
