Its my understanding that the car show in Hastings will no longer happen anymore. Too bad, that was a neat area to enjoy a car show.

Wow Chris, hopefully that is not the case, they have been a good time for years. If true i wonder what was the last straw that caused the decision to be made.

I just spoke with Doug M, my contact and it was news to him. He spoke with Kevin, the main guy a couuple of weeks ago and he didn't mention anything. Doug was going to talk to Kevin again after Thankksgiving and let me know. I certainly hope Chris got some bad information, I as well as many others have enjoyed the show for years.

Mike Linner on Facebook is whom brought up the subject in the Hot Rods and Classics group. It looks like Bryan & Larry are friends with him. I believe he runs Car Show Nationals, the website that used to be Autoswalk. I would say given he is the one discussing this, the source is pretty credible, he seems to have his finger on the pulse into the car show events in MN as well as the industry too actually. Also in the discussion is the end of the Land of 10,000 lakes concourse show as well. I shared the post in the NCC facebook group though I understand not everyone is on FB. Perhaps Bryan or Larry could get in touch with Mike for more info.

That is also very disappointing to hear. It would have been fun to go back down there for the years to come. It seemed like there was still some decent participation.

I feel like I should delete this thread but whatever. Bruce, that is appearing to be the case & Mike hasnt come forward on whom or how he came to learn this information & its kind of frusterating. Mike is supposed to be an credible authority on car show related events and if he is indeed sharing false information. Thats very pathetic and shame on him for doing so. Ill tell you this, next time I catch info such as this. I intend to sit on it for a period of time to determine if the info is indeed valid.

He may have caught rumor talk and passed it on before verifying it. This happens most years with No St Paul too. Some of the businesses would like to see it shut down, but it keeps coming back every year....so far...
City council members who are opposed to the show in Hastings may have started rumors they were going to get it shut down...who knows and time will tell.

I think there was also a rumor running around that the SMN's aren't happening this year in MN, but the website shows it's planned for July in St. Paul but...no firm dates yet though. I would assume it's the 3rd weekend as always?
So what your saying I still have plenty of time to get my car ready
Actually shooting for Late April or when the snow id gone and we have had some good rains.

I can't believe they haven't firmed up the date yet for SMN.
I might miss it though this year anyway, as we're planning to go on a Model T tour in Ohio.

I thought I had upudated my original post and realized I had not. I did talk to Doug again over the holidays. The bottom line is that every year the city council must re-approve the show schedule. The downtown merchants group supports the show and that is the key to the council approval and the show continuing. The guy Doug reports to is finding less and less help putting the show on. If the show fails at this point it is due to the lack of folks stepping up and shouldering the work for it to continue. The familiar dialogue of every club or group I have been involved with.

Hopefully I'm not contributing to the confusion with notes below on NSP. From Hank/Terry:
Here is the response I received from the individual that coordinates the Club of the Night for NSP.
Unfortunately with construction occurring in No. St. Paul this year we will not have a space available for a club of the night during the car show. The parking lot we used the last few years will be part of a new apartment building taking up most of that block. We are getting another block to the East, so instead of ending at Charles Ave. we will be going to Henry Ave. We hope to see you and your club members during the year, and hopefully we will have a space we can use next year for a club of the night.
For SMN - last year early bird was end of January. Their site only has details on dates 17-19 July, but no pre-registration or other details.
From what I understand: SMN and Hastings shows are still on as well as N. St. Paul (just no club nights for 2020).

I got a call recently from my contact at the Hastings show. The organizational meeting including show sponsors and the city was held and they will have seven shows this year. There is still some confusion about restricting parking or haveing cars move off main street at/by 5:00 but they are working out the details. We are are on the agenda for a club of the night in early August but the exact date is yet to be determined. More to follow...

Not a big surprise. No. St. Paul has moved their, tentative, start date to July 3rd. That may change too...
