We will be the club of the night for the Hastings Car Show on august 10th. Hank has scheduled a meeting prior to the show at 4:00. We will be working the gate on the west again this year. The parking lot where we have parked in previous years is now a parking ramp. The ground floor is pretty open and that will be our designated parking area. We will need a head count for those attending so if we need additional parking they will rope off more room on the street for us. As we get closer we will ask members to sign up for a 45-60 time to work the gate with at least two working each shift. Stay tuned for updates.

As most of you know in exchange for designated parking at the show we need to man the west gate on main street which is the main entrance point into the show. We just need to allow any vehicles 1976 and older entrance and politely turn away anything newer. We need to have at least two club members at the gate from 5:00 until 9:00.
To assure we have continued coverage at the gate it would be good to get a head count of how many folks will be attending and your preference for a time period to work the gate. If there is anyone who lives south and would volunteer to take the 8:00 shift it would allow some of the far north folks to get a head start home.
If you plan on making the show and have a time preference, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, please post it and I will try and keep a running tally so we have coverage. I will try and post a summary by Friday. If we have enough folks show up we can easily cut every ones shift to 30 or 45 minutes allowing more time for everyone to enjoy the show.

***edit*** I'll be there with kids, Jenna is working night-shift that night, so I'll be of limited helpfulness...

Plans are still set for a meeting at 4:00 near the old bank which is now the new parking ramp. Based on peoples responses here is a tentative work schedule. Nothing is cut in stone and if you want/need to swap with someone just do it as long as all of the shifts are covered. Everything is also weather dependent. If anyone needs a break just reach out there should be club members nearby.
5:00 pm Chris P. and Bob and Derek. This is a very busy shift plus there should be lots of folks around to help with the boys. 6:00 pm Mitch and Stan 7:00 Pm Andrew and Chris R. 8:00 pm John D. and Jon H.
Since Stan did not plan this one there is a chance the rain will miss us.

There are plans for any northern member that want to caravan to meet at Bill's gas on Lake Drive and Main Street in Lino Lakes. There is non-oxy available there. We should plan on departing by 3:00 to make the meeting. We will go east on Main Street to 35E to 694 east around the east side of the metro and taking 61 south to Hastings. I think Jon H, Stan and Hank will be there, anyone else?

Had to abort the mission...
Got to the Mendota Bridge and the sky opened up. From the time it took from the Airport to the 1st overpass we could hide under all's we needed was "Mr. Bubble"... Totally soaked through, squishy floors, and a real safety hazard. (The wipers can keep up with the outside water, but the rain coming over the top of the windshield and being sucked to the inside (low pressure) is a problem).
Got back to the 40 Watt probably just in time. It's raining like crazy here, and we don't have a street! The asphalt & curbs were torn out last week for water & gas main replacement, and right now the only thing making it through would be BigFoot or USA1!!... not a car with 4" clearance.
Maybe September or Cruise for Troops.

The true die hard members made it to Hastings despite heavy rain, wipers not working on some cars, and a substitute vehicle or two. Another adventure and more stories for the club.
Thanks Jon for putting this together despite Mother Nature! thumbsup:

Only blue Chevelles made it.
Red paint runs when wet. The cars would go home naked.
