I know a previous thread was started for the early registration for the 2019 Street Machine Nationals, but I wanted to see who is able to help on Thursday with saving our spot at the fairgrounds. I believe in years past, people took shifts, but I do not know when they started. I am hoping that someone that has volunteered in the past can provide some insight what was done.

I usually rolled in about 11:30-noon. I can't do it this year at all.
I do have the box with our block off things if someone wants to use them.

I should be able to be there around 9:45 with my cones.
If someone on the north end can grab Bryan's blocks and string, it would be a big help.

I am a little confused, they let you rope off an area on Thursday even though the event starts on Friday? I plan to drive up Friday morning and then pick up the credentials. Are there any members from the SE side of St Paul that would want to meet up to drive in together and pick up credentials?
What was the issue last year in regard to picking up credentials that Mitch talked about? Is it better to Underwood from the west or east bound lanes of Larpenter?

Thanks Mitch and Ian for grabbing the area on Thursday!
If it's o.k. with the club, I think I had mentioned before that I have two Kansas City Chevelle/Sprint buddies that are driving up and would like to park with us if possible both Friday and Saturday. One is Brian with the red '66 SS that came up last year, and the other one we convinced to come up is a '72 GMC Sprint (aka Elky's GM brother).
So that's an RSVP for 3 parking slots for the Shinker tribe. I know you'll grab as many as possible like usual, and hopefully the F#$D club doesn't try to take more of our spaces this year.

Thanks guys! I'll be looking for a space all 3 days if my car holds together... I'm bringing the Family on Friday, and will be by myself Saturday and Sunday.
I'm in the Street Machine Challenge again, so I'll be vacating the spot periodically.

Stan - Glad to have the KC people join. Hopefully we will be able to reserve the same number of spots that we had last year.

Im in for Friday and Sunday.
Saturday is orientation for my older daughter at University of St Thomas so I'll be in the area but not at the show.
Jim-credential pickup can be a clusterf... There are lines by last initial but they sometimes curve. I've never done Friday pickup, but I bet it's not as bad as Thursday when every jobless/retired/vacation day'd Motorhead shows up. I wouldn't worry about it, just remember that credential pickup is on the NORTH side parking area

The issue with credential pickup, is they have registered, needing registration and spectators ALL coming in the Larpenteur gate and then funneling them down to 1 lane to direct them to the correct area. People waited 6 HOURS to get in that gate last year on Saturday.

Maybe it is worthwhile to drive up to ST Paul just to Pick up Credentials on Thursday. I plan to leave Lake City around 6 AM and get there at 7:30; but don't want to wait up to as Mitch said 5HRS. Is everyone picking up credentials on Thursday. Looks like you have to show a drivers license, so someone else can't pick them up. Would be nice is someone else could pick them up for you.

I would suggest you do that and then enter the Como gate in the morning. That wasn't all backed up for hours, like Larpentuer.

Just a memory, Ian. Some do get there quite early, still, but no organized meet, from what I know.
Sorry I haven't called about Thursday, been busy and it keeps slipping my old mind when I do have time.
I have a DR appointment at 9 am, but I will be there around 10 with the cones.

I normally do dawn patrol, but this year is out, except Sunday maybe. There's still a large crowd that shows up, mostly same people every year, just about the same order of arrival too. Dave, the guy that bought Rick P's red '70 was right behind me last year.
We should plan something for next year!
