Final planning for Hastings August 25th.
WORK: We will be manning the gate on the west end of main street under the bridge as in past years. Our function is very simple, keep traffic flowing in one direction and only allowing entry to vehicles 1976 and older. We need a minimum of two members on the gate continuously from 5PM until 9PM. If we have enough three is even better. It would be nice if members would commit to a one hour time slot in a post here so we know we are covered all night long. This will be rain or shine unless cancelled by the show managers.
PARKING: In exchange for our manning the gate, we will have club parking in the old bank building lot as before. Parking should be ample for all club members. If you want to park in the bank lot plan on arriving by 5PM as the show managers may release unused spots after 5PM. Parking will be available as early as 3PM. If you have a friend that is not a club member and has a Chevelle you would like to park with us I see no reason not to allow that. Use your good judgement as parking is limited. Just have a nonmember use your name when asking admittance so we know.

I have many appointments and tests next week as part of my annual heart check-up, so I am not sure what shape I will be in by Saturday. I can't schedule in advance, but if I can, I will just show up and see if help is needed.

Ill fill in a shift where the club needs. Shift doesn't matter to me. Bruce, if your planning on going again this year. Ill pair up with you if your ok with it.

I can work 7-9 pm.
I hope to be down mid-afternoon with the ride, but that depends on delivery timing of the new radiator.
Either way I will be there.
I haven't been down to their show yet so I'm looking forward to it.

No cars out in AK, it has rained 12 straight days. But fishing has been good.
Tina and I will be there .Wasn't sure with the next two weekends tied up with wedding stuff. I'm going to the Dakota County fairgrounds show in Farmington, then will drive to Hastings mid to late afternoon.
I'll help out at the gate as needed but would like to leave after 8 pm since we have an hour drive home in mostly the dark .

Based on responses to date to help on the gate: 5-6 Mitch Chris P
6-7 Bob W Jon H
7-8 Dana Stan
8-9 Chris R Andrew
Floaters: Larry, Hank, Terry. Just plan on picking an hour and working with the others. There is plenty to do for three at the gate, especially early on.
Of course these are not cut in stone and feel free to talk and swap as long as we have the gate covered.
It would be nice to have a few more commitments to cover for illness and family emergencies, etc.

Looks like ill have to bow out on Saturday. DJ enters into school for the 1st time in 2 weeks and his school is having their open house on wed 29th, so we can meet his kindergarten teacher & see his new school. Since I had a normal day off on Saturday 25th, I ended up trading it with another tech for the 29th I need off. My sincere apologies if I put the club and Jon in a bad spot.

Thanks Jon for coordinating this. Tina and I had a great time and it was a good reminder of how cool a location and event the Hastings Cruise is!
BTW, have you checked your speedometer lately Jon? You flew by us on 61 about 15 MPH over the speed limit. I gave up trying to keep up when I realized we were doing 80 in a 65 zone.
I recall leaving Master Transmission on the first test drive post 200r4 install eastbound on highway 42 with Jon. It was like being launched out of a slingshot. I also recall holding a GPS and how impressed we were with the accuracy of the speedometer. It's not the speedometer it's the right foot.

The show management was very impressed with the club organization and appreciative of how everyone pitched in and did a great job on the gate
We are tentatively scheduled for a weekend next August, I hope that works for for everyone.
Bonnie spent some time with the show manager getting a tour in his golf cart and got some pics from on top of the bridge.
