April 28 is the day and start time is 10:00 AM. Location will be Mitch’s shop in Lake Elmo. I will post Mitch’s address in the members area for anyone who needs it.
It will be round 2 on Andrews Chevelle. Last time is was front end upgrades and engine install. This time it is going to be rear end upgrades including a Rear coil over conversion and a Rear disc brake kit. Also adding to the fun will be installing a new engine and dash harness kit from American Autowire. Mounting bucket seats along with front seat belt installation. Hang a new passenger fender and fixing the drivers door mirror. Lots of things to do hope to see you all there.

Will the axles be removed for the disc brake conversion? If so, should we check the axle end alignment? I can bring the tools, might be interesting. Would just need to remove the diff case/ring gear assy. from the main housing.

Just to clarify the time, I will be in the shop at 10 am. Don't feel obligated to be here that early, especially if you aren't interested in participating in the work. I believe we will take a lunch break around noon and then have the meeting during/after lunch, so if you just want to stop in for the meting, noon will probably be just fine.
I don't know who thought all this snow was a funny April fools joke, but it is going to be interesting to see if I can get my driveway opened up before the 28th. It is going to take some serious melting to make enough room for more than few cars.
Bob, the axles will be out but I don't know that we want to create more work by removing the differential completely.

Well, we are supposed to have this in 2 weeks and we are buried in snow AGAIN. I hope this stops and clears up in a week so I can get Andrew's car here...

Good deal, I cleared my driveway last Monday and with the REAL spring weather we have had, it is all dried off already. I'll be picking Andrew's car up tomorrow and we will have the dash out and ready for surgery before Saturday.
Chris S, I have your hinges back and will get them primed later this week. You will have 7 days from then to paint without needing to sand...

For anyone in the Northland Metro that wants to caravan, here's our plan:
When: 9 A.M. departure
Meeting Place: Moonshine Whiskey parking lot-East Bethel (21383 Ulysses St NE, Cedar, MN 55011 at Sims and Hwy 65)
Arrive: Mitch's 10 A.M.
I'll post a suggested route in the members section if anyone wants to meet up on the way. It's always more fun to caravan a few Chevelle's together!

I'm hoping to be there! The house search is over (Elky is getting a new home soon), and I finally have some free time! My buddies were up this weekend, and the ol' girl started right up. Short of a steering box leak (looking for a replacement as with the leakage of fluid, and it was getting pretty sloppy, I think it's time), I should be able to make it down there with her!

Not to derail this post...but great to hear that 350 from my old vert is still chugging along! Hope you drive the Elky Sat. to Mitch's.
Does anybody know if a '71 Chevelle steering box will work on Steve's Elky? I have one sitting on a shelf that you can have for free if it works. It's a takeoff from my current Malibu that I replaced with a Jeep steering box. I can bring it to Mitch's Sat.

Thanks Mitch.
Steven-I'll throw my steering box in the trunk and bring it to the meeting. It's yours for the taking if you want to give it a try.

Please park in the driveway, we'll move vehicles as needed for those you need to leave. The ground is still soft on the shoulder of the road and may rut.
Thanks !

Wouldn't be a "project" without that...
Actually, the fan switch was fried and fell apart when we took the dash out...just going to replace the heater core and he is doing the volt gauge conversion from Amp, that just got here, still waiting on the switch...

Yes, thanks for the great turnout !!
I didn't get to say bye to many people who left while I was busy making all the noise, sorry if that was part of the reason for leaving.
The issue with the seized lower control arm bolts set us back for time to work and didn't allow as many people to be involved.
Chris S and Andrew stuck around until all the arms and braces were in.
I was in the shop at 8:30 yesterday morning and we finally closed the door at 7 PM, so it was a long day, but many aspects of the work did get done.

Thanks Mitch for yet another good tech session and hosting the meeting! It was great catching up with everyone.
Here's a few pics of all the wrenching that went on (Attached).
It's a 20 footer, Kevin. The ex-painter used it as a spray out panel and it's full of "junk". I really like the color and wish this had turned out as anticipated last September, but it was not to be. I had hoped, back then, to be putting my car together right now...

A big thanks to all that worked on my car. I would have seriously been lost without all the help and guidance from the club. The car is really starting to come together and after in some form of dismantle the last 3 years I'm very excited to think might be road worthy this summer.
Thanks to Mitch and Barb for hosting.

Sorry Mitch, I can move the entire thread to a different section, but not posts within a thread as far as I know.
JD might have other ideas.
