The BAER calipers (Ford Cobra Mustang) are a way smarter design. One "ear" of the caliper is locked in place by the caliper bracket, then the other side is pivoted down and locked in place with a cross pin and retainer clip. The pads themselves are attached to the piston and casting, so there's no point the pad slides in the caliper. See attached picture, the circles are the pad mounts. Once the wheel was off, it took literally less than 2 minutes to swap the pads on one side. I timed myself. I did cheat, though. I had the tools ready from doing the other side.
Hopefully, the new pads grab better than the old ones. I got them (used) with the calipers and even though they had lots of meat left, they just don't grab.
BTW used to get cheap pads and found the factory Ford F150 pads were far superior to replacements.
Swapped out well before they were worn and now big difference. Now all the cars get the best I can find,
it saves on a few deer hits al the very least.

Get the rotors resurfaced or those new pads could glaze right over and you'll be right back where you came from.
