Brought this '54 sedan back from Casper WY last week.
I had made an offer on this rollback 2 months ago and never heard back until this week. It's now in my shop for brake work..

Also, green envy on the hauler. That would make getting divorced that much easier :)

Mitch, ya got it bad man. You seem to be in some very advance stage of the disease. Let us know what happens next. We're not sure how it ends. I'm sure there's some type of support group out there, maybe even meds.

Would the 54 be for you or resale? Just not a typical purchase for you.

I forgot to check the notification box during the initial post. I thought no one was paying attention and it was me that was slacking...
Yes, I'm still married, barely. Lucky for me I found an angel...
The rollback is possibly for the '52 2 ton I have. I haven't looked at them together to determine if the carrier will adapt to the '52 frame yet. The other possibility is putting the '52 cab and front clip on the '89 chassis.
The '54 was too clean and reasonably priced to pass up. I do have all the parts to re-assemble it. They make cool looking gassers...
As for therapy and meds, the wife thinks that is a good suggestion to look into, but I don't a clue as to why...

I needed to get it in the shop to do brake work and there wasn't room, so I pulled the Chevelle chassis up on it. That was more fun than using the power winch on the trailer...

You got your motor back. You have not given any updates on how it turned out. What kind of numbers did it make?

Not run on a dyno, just broken in on a stand, like yours. His guesstimate with installed parts is 450-475 hp, 550-575 torque. Fairly conservative, but it sounded nice at idle...
He said it needs more carb too. I need to get a kit for the Edelbrock with larger jets and metering rods.

I'm willing to learn, Mike. It might be a nice change of pace.
It needs a floor patch on the right side that was included and 2 rust repairs behind the rear tires. The rest is so nice, it still has factory paint on it. Supposedly the original 235 engine with a cast iron powerglide, that I don't think is original.

Not certain, at this point, Bruce. If the rollback deal had gone thru earlier, I wouldn't have gone out to WY for the '54. Not that I wouldn't like to keep all the cars I have and restore them to my visions, I really don't think I will live to 120 to finish them all..

So is the ramp truck a big block or small block? Your NV 3500 transmission would be a good swap for that truck to get rid of the granny 4 speed.

7.4 liter carburated. Yep, already thinking about that swap..

Looks like a handy tool to move 4 post lifts!
Never have enough Big Blocks in the garage.
I smell a really neat "Rat Rod" inthat 54
Note to all:
Some time in life, our wives give up trying to "fix" us.
We do the same for them.
It does help if their garage stall is sacred!

Yes, that bed would have eliminated a lot of fender removal/install and jacking up for tire clearance. Would have had to consider overhead clearances though, as the overall height may have been close to 13'. Might make quick work of the move next summer..
No rat rod stuff around here. IF I build it, I would consider a straight axle street rod. If money was no object, it would get a blown 292 under the hood, just to be different.
My wife has parked her car in the attached garage every day since we met AND it's the stall closest to the door to go in..

Ah, didn't put that together. No big block in the '54. Too tight to work around, when a healthy small block would work just as well.
Or a 400+ hp 6 cylinder...

I really like the "patina" of the current finish.
Improved steering and suspension, reliable drive train of choice, comfortable interior, and air conditioning.
As Mitch says, 1954 and earlier, engine compartment REALLY tight.
It was designed for a 6 cyl, first year of 265 v8 was 1955.
Thus they had a slightly larger engine compartment.
On the 6cyl in 1955 the radiator mounted in front of core support, v8 behind, overall, 55 up was a wider compartment.
Chev 292 6cyl truck motor was a really good, durable motor.
Had one in the 66 chev. one ton tow truck I drove in an earlier life
Mitch has so much leisure time now, he could probably do a little hauling on the side to justify rollback.
It is a wise hobbyist that makes sure "The Wife" is taken care of!!
If I could find a 56 Bel Air post that nice, I would be all over it!
Nice catch Mitch
Karl
P.S.
Doors in new building are 14' tall.
Pulled trigger on grading and soil corrections this week.

Soil corrections only, if weather allows!
Have site plans done.
Preliminary plan approvals done.
Might try and post sketch plans in Members only later.
Thanks for asking.
This stuff, projects of all types, is really fun.
Once again, we are all jealous of your latest "finds".

I enjoy the horsetrading aspect of the hobby as much as anything... looking for deals is my version of "hunting" but I can do it all year and there only limit is my bank account and garage space. I'm working on a trade right now, and will probably end up with a '50 Chevy pickup project this weekend... not that I need it, but it's good trading stock for whatever else I might run across. :)

I ran out of garage space years ago and that didn't stop me. How much room do you have for 4 post lifts to stack cars ?? Even with 2 lifts, I have way more vehicles than room. I have 2 stashed at a friends place. 1 of them is the '52 flat bed. I may load the '54 on the rollback and see if I can get the '54 on the '52 bed for the winter to free up my car trailer again.
How clean and complete is the '50 pick up ?? I may have someone interested in that. What are you trading for it ?

The wife's space closest to the door is one of the keys to a happy marriage. We have been married 46 years, and that has always been the rule. Three of my four stalls are taken up by my Chevelle and piles of parts I might need some day. My 70 Corvette is at a friends house, and my 69 Corvette is in my daughter's garage so her husband can finish it.

Speaking of finishing, I haven't seen any updates on the Chevelle in a while...
Last I heard, you were block sanding. Does that mean you finished the hood, wiring, is it running/driving ?????

I am trading a 26 Model T roadster body for the pickup. It's all there but in pieces, and mounted on an S10 chassis.
It's supposed to be very solid, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm going tonight to check it out.

Sounds like the roadster body is heading for a street rod, if the truck is any indication.

Yeah, that one was too rough for a stock resto. Mice got in the seats and rotted out everything in the seat riser. Hotrod guys cut that out and lower the seat anyway.
I made the trade. The truck has a very solid cab and doors, but the fenders and box are rough.
