So, after 9 Chevelles in 39 years I kind of know what I want in a Chevelle. My pocket book may not be up to the challenge but I am suppose to dream big.
72, 70 or 71 in that order
Like the headlights, 2 or 4 door
Blue paint
500 horse small block
Overdrive tranny
Posi with 4.10 gears
Front disc brakes
Cloth seats
Passenger side view mirror
Big tires in the rear
Air conditioning that works
Functional cowl induction hood
Sound system
Hidden ignition switch
Car alarm
Sometimes, great things come through networking so I am reaching out to this great club to see what you may know about that is under $15,000. I am scouring eBay, CL, Team Chevelle and racingjunk for example but if there any other good sites you would suggest please let me know. My wish list above is flexible but I have to start somewhere. I have 9 ads printed out from all around the Midwest to start reaching out to but I am not afraid of a little work.

So, does this mean you aren't buying yours back for the drivetrain ?

Yes, I am buying it back so the 500 horse small block will be taken care of but I am going to get a new Chevelle. I may also bring this one back to life over time but taking the usable goodies and swapping the drive line.

Cool, so now a clean roller would work too.

Here ya go, clean TX car. I'd bet the back window leaks and it may need some trunk floor work, but it looks decent for the price.
Mitch, how come all the cars you find require a trailer and a 1-2 day drive...? I know, you like the road trips.
fyi-The Mansfield one has been deleted, so I'm guessing sold.

Stan, I won't live long enough to restore 5 cars with MN rust issues. A clean TX car is a dream come true for us rust belt guys. The '66 Malibu I brought home from Montana only needed a truck floor from the usual leaky back window. The rest of the car is about as clean as they come. That TX car looks clean in the pics and could be a driver as he is changing out parts. Of course, I would request more pics and close ups of the usual rust areas before running down there, but it's a far better starting point than a rust bomb.
A 4-5 day round trip and $800-$1,000 in gas is FAR less expensive and time consuming than replacing an entire floor and quarters...and that is usually just the start of the panel replacement on a northern car.

I agree, the better the 'bones' of the car are... the better the result and less work is needed. You're preaching to the choir for me on the last part as I flash back to the '72 vert resto.

I figured that would bring back "memories"...

I have not made it over there as I am in northern MN right now. I was going to stop on my way back Monday but I will reach out to him again. Thanks for the note!

Well it was marked as sold yesterday so in all likelihood, your too late. Looked like a solid car for the money.
With the body work and paint done about 16 years ago there are no bubbles or rust. Original stock condition complete with 2-barrel carb and points distributor. The only weird thing is the front seat back is tilted way back, like it is from the hood. The floor is great and appears solid just the seat leans way back.

Saw that add and thought of you Darren. With your parts to swap into it that could be interesting.

It appears to be adjusted all the way back and they lean like that then.
OBO...offer 10k and have the cash in your hand...

Well, I do have 10k in hand and that one has good bones plus being local I lean towards this one.

No A/C or disc brakes, but a clean 4 DOOR...

Couple more possibilities, but not as good as the first one.

Careful Mitch every time you go on Craigslist list you seem to end up with another car yourself.
Not a 2 headlight car...
If I bring home another car, I'll be on the personals page looking for a new wife...
