Guess I came into the parking lot at work a little too hot this morning. Heard a bang but couldn't tell what it was. When I left the shifter almost hit the passenger seat. I will have to look harder for a fan shroud now.
I just got a set of polygraphite mounts like that from summit today for my buddies 70 chevelle.

I'll be ordering a set of Moroso solid mounts and will only use 1 on the left. I'll sell you the other one for $15...

I bought one at Napa today as I drove to Henderson for the car show, but I'll be looking into something a little stronger. I'll keep your offer in mind Mitch. Thanks.

Were you able to get one with the T lock to prevent it from coming completely apart like the old one did ?
If you danged kids are going to hot rod around, at least put a chain on that mill to prevent the fan from kissing the shroud...

I'm guessing age had something to do with that one too based on the pic. To Mitch's point, it looks like the older non-safety failure mode type. A new set of stock ones should do the trick IMO for anything less than 500 hp.
This is the kit from summit, these should be much better then stock ones but not a rough as a solid mount. Be cautious of the two different mount widths offered.

I am just using a solid on the left and locking rubber on the right and rubber trans. I blew the left locking rubber a couple years ago over in WI...
I just realized his is a '68 and most likely has the narrower frame stand than mine too. Many of the "fits all" mounts come wide and supply washers to make up the space for narrow.

I've never heard of a T lock but I will be looking for something like that. It would be nice to have a "safety" in case that happens again.....
Thanks for the Link Chris, I'll have to measure what I have and see what is available.
Always learning something!

Or you could install one of those kits from the late 60's that gm installed under a dealer recall.

I found one of those kits at a swap meet a few years back. Got decent money on the re-sellers market for it

What did that consist of?
I looked a little at new ones, just been too busy to measure mine and order them.
One of the new styles I looked at had a T bar style safety built into the mount. Sounds like a smart way to go.

Straps help keep from over torqueing the mount and breaking it. I think they were out @ 1972
I think they were a a item installed under a recall as early as 68 for all the 66 and later BBC and high performance 327. I have one in the garage. Gm corrected the problem with the new design mother mount.
