Found an 8.2" Eaton posi 3.36 gear rear axle from a '69 Chevelle about an hour from me, and wondering WIW?
The seller posted it at $475, but I've got him down to $375, which I think is reasonable since a new posi is $500+ these days. It does need backing plates and brakes, but I'd probably due a rear disc conversion while it's out of the car. Gone are the days of finding a 12 bolt open rear end for $300... right Bryan?
My plan is to find another 200R4 to put behind the 350, so this would be a good gear ratio as well.

If it looks good on the inside I would think it is worth $375. You said it buying a new posi and gears to build something is going to set you back way more.

Thanks Chris. If I go look at this, I'll pull the cover and look for chipped teeth, excessive backlash, etc. The seller says it was working fine when he pulled it. He's putting a 9" Ford setup into his '69 Chevelle for higher HP.
There is a guy in the KC club that has a 12 bolt empty housing for $250, but other than having a 12 bolt for strength, I'd still need to buy the posi/gears/axles/etc. so that would be a much more expensive solution.

For what you are doing that 10 bolt will be plenty strong enough.

If it looks good inside, pick it up for that price...

The $375 is just a start. This winter I went though my spare 12 bolt, no gears to buy, no posi to buy, no axels or backing plates or brakes or wheel cylinders or drums to buy. Buy the time I was done I had over $600 spent. Only had to buy new axel bearings and seals, pinion seal, then some additional parts from Tom's Differential's to tune the posi ($150). Oh,check the axel tubes for straightness ($170 alone), Then cleaning, epoxy painted and finish painting with 2K chassis black ($200), gear oil and posi fluid and cover gaskets, and new control bushings.
You are going to probably put in a set of carrier and pinion bearings, maybe reuse your drums and brake hardware along with EB cables, and posi clutches? And gears for the posi? Maybe a differential flange? If he is selling it for that price, what does he know about the posi and gears?
