Life changes for us... moving to the land of Dorothy, Toto, and awesome BBQ!

Well folks... we are moving south. I've accepted a position with Garmin (The GPS/Aviation/Marine/Fitness watch folks) in Olathe, Kansas (SW KC suburb), and will start on the 23rd. So, I've gotten an apartment for temp living until we find a new home, we sold our house in the past week after a few days on the market with multiple offers at higher than asking price (the man cave sold itself), so we are Kansas City bound!
The Garmin position is something I can't pass up at this point of my career and at my age (the 50+ clock is ticking louder now...), our son graduates in May from Mankato State in early May so he's going to move down with us to start his new life/career, and our daughter just moved in with her boyfriend so she's making some life choices on her own now. So, we are at a life cross roads that this is the right decision for us.
KC is also only about 3 hours from Lincoln, Nebraska where my wife's aging parents and her sister are there along with my 2 sisters, so it will be nice to be able to run up there for a quick weekend or overnight visit.
We will miss everyone in the club of course, but I did register for the 'formerly known as Car Craft' event, so I might have to come back in July for that. I will likely tow the Chevelle down south in April during a return weekend as I have a former childhood friend that lives down in Olathe that has access to half a pole barn that I can put it in temporarily. That way I can go to some local car shows on the weekends I'm down there.
Looks like we will have to join the Mid-America Chevelle Club (I'm sure they won't be as fun as you guys), but I will continue to renew our NCC membership, as we will always be a piece of you guys! And... there is the Midwest Chevelle Regionals right in Olathe usually in late September where 135 or so Chevelle's gather, so you guys could road trip down to see us!
We will stay in touch, and if you are ever in the KC area, look us up!

First of all congrats!
Second - You know you have to leave the chevelle up here. I will hold on to it and use it just enough that the seals stay good until you move back.

Congratulations Stan, you will be missed. but it sounds like a good opportunity for you. I went to the Nascar race there last spring it's a nice part of the country. Next race I go to I'll be sure to visit, make sure you stay on the forum so we can keep in touch.
I've had several changes recently too. After 18 years with the same company I accepted a new job in January. Shortly after I started my Dad had a stroke and passed away. I'm getting most of his stuff take care of now and look forward to getting settled into the new job.

Forgot to mention... I will be posting some things in the Classifieds before they go on CL for members choice. Some free stuff, and others for sale. It will be a day or so before I take inventory and pics...
We will need to purge, especially some of the bigger heavier stuff like good '71-72 bumper replating cores, deck lid, stock SBC cast iron manifolds, stock GM iron 4 barrel cast iron intake manifold ('68 vintage), stock 15/16" front anti-sway bars, '70 stock alternator (from John E.'s Elky-Not sure if it works, and more.
I might have some small shop stuff too, so watch for the post in the Classified section.

Lot of good guys in that club, you will fit in nicely. They actually moved the MidAmerican show to Shawnee Mission a couple of years ago, but that is just down the road. Have talked about heading that way maybe this year or next. The Midwest Regional show that rotates from Wichita, Tulsa, Springfield Mo, and St Louis is also going to be in Shawnee Mission in 2016 in late June I think. Probably will do that one for sure.

I will have to admit, you were one of the people I really wanted to show the Chevelle too this summer, so you do need to come back for the Summer Nationals to check it out.
That or John will have to give you the lowdown on how it turned out.

Congrats on the new job. Seems a bunch of us are getting new jobs. I just took a new position with a commercial HVAC company a few weeks back as well. Sorry to see you go but I certainly cant blame you. Plus, the winters there from what I have been told are no where near as bad. I also hear the humidity in the summer time though is a different story. Congrats again on the new job.
Now comes the part where you start shopping for a house that already has a shop or the option to build one (again).

Congratulations Stan, Not only on the new job but also the "higher then asking price" sale of your house. Don't see that too often.
Your taxes will be less and you'll also be able to drive your Chevelle a lot more down there. Bonus! I'm sure we'll see on the board and hopefully this July at the fairgrounds. Good luck to ya and thanks for your service as pres in the club.

Dan-I remember a very HOT Midwest Regionals with you and the Dietze's in Olathe ten years ago! As you said it's moved now, and is in Sept. instead of Aug., which hopefully is much cooler.

Personally, I think the Twin Cities area has run out of suitable Chevelles for you to buy/sell. You've already owned all of them at least once, so you're moving to fertile ground...
Glad the house sold quickly and for the right price, and you'll certainly enjoy more success in the next chapter the way you already have while here.
If there's anything you ever need, I'm confident you'll find help here. We are all in your debt for your many contributions to this Club.

Congrats....I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as you've changed jobs frequently here too. I hope this one means no flying to Asia all the time for you...
Olathe is a nice part of the KC area. Maybe we can start scheduling the February meetings at your new place to escape the cold...

Actually... I worked at Telex for 15 years, Toro for 8 years, and Ingersoll Rand for 4 years, so the company change isn't as frequent as Chevelle changes. Yes, many job changes within each company, but almost always a move up each time.
I will still be going to Asia, as Garmin has a production facility in Taiwan which I will go to every quarter or so, and I'm sure they have Asia based suppliers, so that will still occur. That's o.k., on the most part I enjoy working with that region and the people.

Stan -- I'm kind of late in catching up on your big news -- not only changing jobs but also changing homes. I'm sure you and Tina will enjoy being closer to your blood relatives even though you will be leaving behind your Chevelle relatives. Of course, you'll be making new Chevelle relatives shortly after you get settled in Kansas. You always made sure that Lorraine and I were made to feel welcome when we were starting out with the NCC. Reading all the other comments makes it clear that everyone else feels the same way about you as we do. You'll be missed on the third Saturday of each month. I hope you will (like Kevin has) check in and keep us posted on what's going on as you get situated in your new surroundings.
