Woke up this morning, and the pair of Cardinals that nest in the tree behind our house were singing and back for Spring.
The other sign is Gearlube stopped over this afternoon and I fired up the Chevelle for the first time since changing the oil last November. Man it was nice hearing her run again!
And with temps this week in the 50's and 60's, it sure will be tempting to go for a drive, but the salt dust and debris on the road will probably hold me back.
Anybody else firing theirs up this week since it's great weather?

Well it is about time someone turned up the thermostat up there. The last two years we have come back north in April we got 20+" of snow. I sure hope this year is not a repeat. Can't wait to do the spring start up of the Chevelle.

I sooooooo what to hear my car run again. I was testing some of the electrical circuits yesterday and tested the safety switch on the clutch, so I had to turn it over. But, I can not fire it up yet. I still have 20W-50 break-in oil in the engine. So, I have to wait until it gets little warmer before I fire it up.

You must not have feeders if the Cardinals leave during the winter. Ours stay year-round.
As for starting a car, neither '66 is road worthy and the 70 is 40 miles away in storage along with the Camaro.
The '38 is on the lift with the Corvair under it. I may fire up the Corvair this week and gets pics to put it on craigslist.
I may well fire up the Harley too, but I don't know where I put the tab when I bought it 6 weeks ago...

Was tempted to dig out the Harley but with the snow melting so fast, my shop driveway is a sea of mud...

I did, this is the Corsa. Reality is slowly settling in that I won't live long enough or have enough funds to finish all the cars.
But I do reserve the right to add a '62 Impala hardtop at a later date....

I re-built the carb over the winter, so I hope the car starts and runs when I turn the key. I also have decided to go to radials and now I need to determine the proper size. Since I want to use the original 14x6 rims with the 4.5" backspace, there are not to many options. Looking at P225/75r 14 BF Goodrich TA radials from DiamondBack with a red strip.
Is there anyone out there using this size with that much backspace?

All kinds of room for that size tire.

I have mine on 4 jack stands in the middle of the shop. I have been looking everything over, checking brakes, changed brake fluid, greased. Just have to put the tires back on, haven't been in any rush to finish until now, since it has warmed up!
It is always hard to put away the snowmobiles, but I am looking forward to driving the car again.

Nope, no feeders of any kind. Too much mess, money, and time re-filling for us to be nature friendly.

I broke down and got Lucy out of her long nap today. NOTHING feels like the old girl when you fire her up after missing her all winter. She took two cranks, popped right up, and got me home without a hitch. I know the purists probably cringe at the salt still on the roads, but she was calling my name!

Roads are looking reasonably clean. Give the underside a rinse and call it good...

Saw my first robin this morning when I opened the garage door! A little blurry on the pic, but it's for sure Spring is here!
I was going to go to the DMV to renew the tab on the Harley and couldn't find the renewal slip anywhere. I didn't have a recollection of even getting one....
So's I goes to the DMV with the insurance card with the vin and tells the lady the same thing. She looks it up and says, "you didn't renew the tab last year, so they dropped you off this year". Um, OK....then she says "so you haven't driven it for the last 2 years ?" ...NOPE...
Drove it 632 miles last year with an expired tab. I guess ignorance smiled on me...

So not a happy wife at home with me right now... it was 75 degrees and sunny yesterday in Olathe when she left to drive home, and she ran smack into the storm and white out conditions between Albert Lea and Owatonna (the devils triangle of MN IMO when driving). She followed another car going about 15 mph or less through the storm, then got home and it snowed another 4" over night. She shoveled the wet/heavy snow by hand this morning since our neighbors had already done theirs and didn't offer to do ours... and the appraiser was scheduled to come over at Noon today, so we didn't want her getting a bad impression and not giving us max value for the home. I'm just glad Tina wasn't 1 of the 192 cars that slid off I-35 about the time she went through it!
Needless to say, I didn't tell Tina that I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt when running around Olathe yesterday.

About 3 inches here too. Then I realized, the calendar still says its March so hey, we got a bonus early week of nice weather. Compared to last March, im not complaining. Snow as much as you want, keep that dang below zero crap away from here IMO.
