I'll bet Jon H. can appreciate the 'before' level of this project.
Seems like $10K is a lot for paying for some numbers that match in the engine and VIN... the rest of the car needs a ton of work.

I got tired just looking at the pix and thinking of all the work!

Somebody was very angry at that quarter panel. Beat the living hell out of it with a ball-peen. Looks like a cut-and-start-over job to my (inexperienced) eye.

If the deck stamp is legit, that adds an easy 7-8k to the "finished" value of the car... so if the rest of it is worth 2-3k, I think the price is in the ballpark to someone looking for a major project like that.
I agree that a lot of the work done on it needs to be cut off and redone, especially if restoring to a level of quality where those #s really matter.

There was a thread on TC not too long ago where the discussion on a 69 convertible that needed quarters and a few reputable posters said they actually dont reproduce actual quarters for the 69 verts, and a coupe quarter wont work and made it sound debatable that even cutting it would even work. Seems the contours are different somewhere but I dont remember where they said it was different. A difference in vertical height perhaps? Ive never compared them before and never looked that close at either a coupe or convert to really see if the difference is that noticeable so I dont really know personally since mine is a coupe and never really had the need to pay that close attention. I cant seem to find the discussion anymore for some reason either. Im thinking its something to do with the height. If its really the case, its more money and/or time that will be needed to fix those quarters on that car the correct way.
But it needs some love, or maybe some buff and shine.
