Very cool! I had to look up what a L77 was. Sounds like they are a rear wheel drive 6 liter similar to what is in Derek's G8, and chevy used them in the Caprice cop car. The Impala was front wheel drive and used a LS4 5.3 liter. Did you get the wiring, transmission or transmission with it?

Need to figure out if I want to put in a cam, and don't know what that will do to the DOD ? Maybe find out at back to the fifty's.

G8 is the L76. L77 is the essentially the same, but "flex fuel".361hp and will run 14.02s at 102.8mph in a 4000lb car off the lot.
I wonder how well the 6L80 will fit in a Chevelle tunnel.

You're all wrong. The L76 is the 365hp 327 and the L77 is the 220hp 283.
GM re-using those old RPOs is one of my pet peeves.

Mine also just like resurrecting old names like (Malibu) on a car like a Malibu. They could have called it a chevette and no one would have cared

Now when people say "LT1" I have to ask "you mean the one that came out in 1970, 1992, or 2014?"

Mine is the overuse of the SS option. The Monte Carlo SS didn't do it for me. I was OK with the SS cobalt when it came out since it was supercharged and they had upgrades available all the way up to pulley, better injectors and stepped up programming.
Then they had the HHR-SS. Sorry, same chassis, but it didn't sit well with me. Then the Malibu SS. Nope. Then the Impala SS came and it was OK since it actually got a 5.3.
The new SS car is actually where they need to be with it: powerful, stylish (subjective, I know), and handles quite well.
(Don't get me started on the "ZR-2 Offroad" option Chevy Tracker)

They had one at the Chevrolet Performance tent at MSRA. Not a bad looking car but not really a "sports car" to warrant the "SS" badging in my mind.

The SS package for Chevrolet was and always will be about looks and customer appeal. Remember, the first Chevelle SS's could be had with a 6 cylinder and maybe even the Impala, I don't recall for certain. It wasn't about performance then, but aesthetics. Once the hp war heated up, it came into it's own with the performance engines that we came to know and identify the SS moniker with. They aren't trying to sell the new SS models to us old farts. They want a young clientele that isn't necessarily interested in raw performance or poor mileage.

We have had them here at work for a while too. They may not look like it, but they are sportier than most. Essentially a civilian version of the Caprice cop car it handles well enough to pull a wheel up on the road course, accelerate well, and from what I have heard it will rearrange your guts a little when you stop.

I wish the SS had the looks of the G8... The SS is a great car, but the styling is a little bland and the color options are terrible for a "sporty" car.
It's like they asked a 90 year old Buick driver what colors they should paint them.
If they start to offer an attractive color, we might actually buy one.

GM has been out of touch with "sporty" colors for many years. The only ones I see are on the tiny econo boxes like the Spark and Sonic to attract the young people.
I guess GM thinks anyone over 30 is happy with bland, dark colors.

I'm sure the other thought is that the under 30 crowd most likely can't afford a $45,000 car.

I've used this kit on 2 swaps now. It's not as simple a swap as they make it sound, but it does work. Both went into Camaro's, should have more room in a A body.
I don't know if I've seen a bracket that moves the alternator to the passenger side, but there have been a lot of new brackets since I put mine together. Most set-ups just move the alternator and AC higher. I have the AC bracket from Kwik performance, I used the stock F-body alternator bracket but it's tight. If I had to do it again I'd use one of Holley's kits like dashboard used.

They make a nice set-up. Rather than making several types of brackets, they make one bracket and sell spacers to fit the truck, vette, or f-body style.

The Holley bracket uses the Corvette power steering pump, it separates the pump and reservoir. Both the pump and reservoir then mount much lower, the top of the reservoir is then level with the top alternator.
Just a note: The Corvette power steering pump is metric. However, if your adding a quick ratio steering box it's bonus.
Oh my, I remember that part. It brings back memory's, some good and some not. Maybe I missed it, what are you using for your oil pan? Wheres the computer going to live?

I don't know of a swap to the opposite side.

That looks like a much better engineered bracket than the speedway one...and the same price...

I used the speedway bracket but did not like the long length of belt running back to the crank pulley.

here is a writeup I did for it in LS1tech.

Here is the 'almost finished' product. Notice how the power steering reservoir is set much lower.
Need pictures, need to see the cool stuff.
trying to figure out pictures can't get it done ??
The pic of the stereo is there as an attachment. That works!
Do you have a photobucket account ? It's super easy from there.
Once you upload the pics from your computer to photobucket, it's literally 2 mouse clicks and they are on here.
OK AGAIN
