Picked this up at Menards, Has several common sizes below ½” Both standard and metric. Saves grabbing the tap and die set to check thread size.
For years I’ve been tempted to steal the one at the end of the isle in the hardware store.

Ha! Me too... I wonder how I'd get out of the store with the 6 x 18 inch sheetmetal thingie with the "test" nuts & studs on it!
I've pretty much got "calibrated eyeballs" when it comes to the USC and USF stuff, but metric fasteners are goofy.
(I'll guess that the thick end is female with internal threads?

Then latter the eyeball starts to get a little lazy. I can get the standard threads but i'm hopeless with metric.

My Menards was also selling some fixtures and stuff. Looks like they're revamping some things. The initial deals are OK, but as stuff sits it seems to drop in price. They have a whole aisle of clearance now.
