Ill nominate you John. Unless you are allowed to nominate yourself (I forget if your allowed to do that), in that case, ill second it.
Also, I am not planning to run for secretary this year.

Thanks again John for stepping up!
In case anyone missed it in the Oct. newsletter, I'm not running for President for next year. It's been a great ride, and I appreciate everyone's support, but it's time for someone else to step up and steer this great club!

When I was on active duty toward the end of my career I was fortunate to have a wonderful Chief in our command that among other duties also acted as my executive assistant. She was bright, witty, pretty and very professional; she had the innate ability to bring order to chaos. She always knew where I needed to be and when I needed to be there. She guarded my door keeping traffic out when she knew I was busy. She was one of the finest Chief Petty Officers I ever had the pleasure to serve with.
She kept a candy-jar on the corner of her desk and insured it was full at all times. It held assorted candy’s Tootsie Rolls, Dots, Red Hot’s, suckers and the like. I can still remember the Chief coming to work in the morning with bags of candy from SAM’s Club too stock up her candy stash so the jar would always be full.
She retired about a year before I did and I was honored to be the guest speaker at her retirement ceremony. Shortly after her retirement and before her replacement had arrived a Sailor walked into the spaces on some type of Navy business and suddenly asked "where’s the candy”. There still sitting on the corner of the now cleaned off desk was the candy jar; it was empty.
That was some time ago but to this day I often think about that candy jar and how shocked that Sailor was to find it empty. One of my life’s thoughts is now built around that silly little candy jar, you just can’t always take the candy out; sometimes you need to put some candy in.
And that brings me to our upcoming club elections. Stan has been carrying the flag for some time now and doing a great job I should add. The time has come for someone to step forth and take the wheel.
Here’s a suggestion. The president serves for a year and then his VP ramps up to the president’s position. The next election is then for a VP. This will require an active VP but insures continuity amongst the club leadership. So often when we complete one event whether a car cruise, CC, car show or even the calendar we really need to start planning for the next one. This leadership flow could assist in permanence and add stability for future events.
We are fortunate to have some exceptional members in our club. Several of whom are more than capable of leading it into the coming years. The time to step up is now, it’s time to toss some candy in the jar.

I am willing to remain as treasurer if the majority of the club votes for me to retain that capacity.

Since we didn't have an official nomination meeting in October, I will post here.
I will not be heading up the automania event for 2014. I will be more than willing to provide the info I have and structure, but with another new commitment I won't have the time necessary.

I am willing to continue asCalendar Distribution (Support), as I have in the past. I will not be able to make election meeting in November as I will be out of country on vacation.
There were no nominations at the meeting other than John D. for Webmaster and Mike S. for Treasurer.
The club By Laws state that since nobody was elected for the other positions at this Nov. meeting, there will be one more meeting, and the members will nominate people for the club Board of Directors, and if accepted and voted in, the Board will run the club until the next election period Nov. of 2014.
We are determining if Karl will hold the Bowtie Brunch in January, and if so John and Mike will coordinate a separate short meeting for the club to hold the nominations and voting at that time. If nobody is nominated or elected for the Board, the formal club may cease to exist, and the forum will continue to run until the funds in the club account are used up.
There was also discussion at the meeting that regarding club meetings and events, members could sign up for one of the month's, and coordinate the location and event for the meeting. That will be discussed at the next meeting as well.
We have 72 registered members currently. Surely, there are members that can step up and keep this club going besides the usual 10 or so members that have cycled through the officer corps. It's time for others to step up!

Stan...What is the difference between the proposed board of directors and the officer format we have been running under? Are there a set number of "board" members, and titles or is it the same officer positions just with a fixed term of service?
With the upcoming elections happening, I thought it best to start a thread for this purpose.
