A co-worker and pal of mine needs a trans for her '03 Neon. I know it's outside our typical lines but she doesn't need to get jerked around or ripped off. I know you slushbox guys probably have a reliable and trustworthy shop locally- can you refer me to someone good for these late-model front drivers?
I'm not sure if its a repair or a replacement right now, but after hearing that she's getting no help where the car is now (Bobby & Steves in Mpls), surely there's someone better who won't rip her off.
She (and the car) are in downtown Mpls, but she's got AAA towing so it can be carted anywhere within reason.
Thanks in advance, guys!

Hands down, Master Transmission in Rosemount 651-423-4221 talk to John or Brad.
They have done three transmissions for me a ST300, 4L60E and the one in my Jeep. They where always done early and under estimate.

Or, on the northern side of town, I recommend Randy at Affordable Transmission in Brooklyn Center. He did some work on my 4L60 and several other guys I know use him for their daily driver stuff.

I was going to suggest Randy at Affordable Transmission as well. I was refered to him by another car guy and I have been very happy with his service. If you want to go to his web site and look at his reviews too, he has a lot of happy customers.
I just had a Honda Accord transmission rebuilt at TSI in Brooklyn Park. Its too early to give any opinions on the rebuild itself, barely driven it and now get the fun of pulling the trans back out again because im a nimrod that totally forgot to replace the rear main seal like I do on every tranny job I do and now is ****es oil like a sob. Totally forgot about it at the time since the car is on Jamies hoist and im trying not to take too much advantage of hoist time and not overstay my welcome. I did get in touch with John at Master but Rosemont being an hours drive from me and the cost was nearly 500 dollars more which wasnt a huge deal to me with the success and happy NCC members, but the distance killed it with the difficulty of getting to that side of the cities outside of work during the week. Then I remembered Ian Macree recommended his good and long time friend that works at BP TSI and they are just blocks away from me actually. They actually have a pretty good car show there on memorial day every year. It also helps when every employee drives some sort of hot rod or muscle car and there was a customers sweet 9 second tubbed Nova that was sitting there after some completed work was done.
I used to work at a shop in Burnsville and we also worked with TSI in Burnsville as well and they were a good shop to deal with for us. Since the Burnsville TSI is closer to you, I would most certainly recommend them. (Edit: Didnt notice the first time she was in downtown Mpls.

TSI Burnsville is also very good. Agree Master in Rosemount also.
Can't go wrong with either one.

Another one for Master Trans! They only charge for what is needed, and nothing more.
I also needed to have my drive shaft balanced, and they recommended Wheelco in St. Paul, and it worked out great.

I had Wheelco build me a new driveshaft for the yellow car. great service I dropped it off at 1030, they called at 1300 and said it was ready for pickup $250.00. Nice to have that service so close.
I'm sure Mitch has been there before, their big into big truck stuff, just recently started doing driveshaft's.
