Has anyone had theirs on a sweep speedometer stick and get it un-stuck? it was having a little trouble turning 4 digits (some where back at ~70599.9), but 5 seems to be more than it can handle
it is now causing the needle to swing back and forth ad clicks like metronome
it had been good, especially since i replace the cable last year.
please let me know if you have a solution.
I'm having a similar issue in my 59, which is a lot easier to pull. i had a guy suggest i take it out and clean the # tumblers with berak cleaner and then use the lube used on tuners

Pull it out and work it loose by hand and lube but DON'T use brake cleaner or the ink will be gone from the numbers !!

I believe silicone based, but let's let someone else confirm that.

My Buick odometer has been stuck at 85,990 since last year.
I’m not sure but would graphite work?

It might be best to contact one of the local gauge shops in town and see what they recommend.

From past experience be VERY careful handling the Odo cluster. The numbers are actually a decal wrapped around the individual "drums". One wrong touch and they will flake off in your fingers. I think "dashboard" is on the right track. A tube of "Lock-Eze" graphite may be the solution. A gentle puff of graphite lubricant in the workings might be the answer.
If anything, wear some latex or nitrile gloves when handling. Like I said, the decals are totally baked and very delicate.
I found this link and it looks to be a logical process to fix the sticking. forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/463766-fixing-stuck-odometer-pics.html
The dash is almost torn apart to the point i can get the speedometer out.
My plan is to give it a try and i will let you know how it goes.
I may practice on a spare 59 speedometer first.
