Just talked to the kid again... she's going in for laparoscopic "look see", and inflamed or not it's coming out. If it wasn't the appendix, they'll look around for what it is.
Know more in a few hours...

All seems to be well. She got out of surgery and into recovery around 1am today. I talked to her at 0730 and 1245 today.
It was appendicitis, it was inflamed and swollen. While they were in there, they also found an ovarian cyst that had ruptured (due to the inflamed intestine). The loose fluid and blood was causing other symptoms the last few days. Anyway, everything's fixed up and the mystery of some trouble she's been having the last week is gone.
Ten days ago she was here:
She's about 200' up on a catwalk system in the Amazon rainforest. I don't even want to think about if this would have happened then.
(Dads with young daughters... tip: Raise "Girly Girls!" Keep 'em in frilly dresses and stuff - don't encourage/endorse tomboys! I aged about ten years in as many hours yesterday...)
Can't imagine the stress. How much is a charter flight down there ?? I think I would've been checking...
Her life may seem boring when she comes back.

Roughly $1300 round trip, via Houston...
Just talked to her about 10 mins ago. All is looking great, she's up & doing laps around the floor, eating real meals. She'll be discharged tomorrow morning.

Good to hear she is recovering quickly. Young, healthy bodies heal fast. Hopefully there is no issue with infection.
How is her Mom taking this ??

Not too badly... the beads were flying pretty fast last night, but when her boyfriend called us around 1am to let us know she was out & well, things got a lot better.
Yeah, she's a pretty tough cookie. She's in great physical shape, and doing the procedure laparoscopically REALLY cuts down the recovery time. She's got three 1/2" incisions, 2 sutures each, and she's on a regiment of anti-biotics already. I wasn't really too concerned about the procedure, but a post-operative infection is my real worry.

It helps that her boyfriend is there with her, so she's not alone. Glad to hear it's all working out well.

I'm sure that added to any collection of gray hair that you may have. It's good that things are turning out okay now.
