I am looking for opinions on 7" headlights. I have been thinking of upgrading my 57 headlights as long as I am wiring and modifying other things. Anybody diid this and have ideas?? It looks like both are a improvement with HID beeing the best and 4300 - 6000K being the best color???

That 55 I did my buddy bought one of the kits at back to the 50's with the H4 bulb and lens assembly. I also then wired relays off the dimmer switch and then ran voltage right from the battery to power the lights. It seems noticeably brighter in my garage but I have not driven the car at night yet for full effect.
I am not a big fan of HID for the reason that if one of the ballasts or bulbs fail you are not likely going to the local auto store to get repair parts. The H4 bulb is available everywhere.

I'm running H4's and H1's in Blackie, and I really like it. Very bright and pinpoint aimable.
I put two relays out near the rad support, and used the original Low & High beam wires (to the bulbs) to trigger the relays. I've got a breaker'd 10ga feed from the junction block by the battery, and then 14ga feeding the bulbs from the relays. 14ga grounds from the bulbs to chassis as well.

Yep, Halogen's and relays for full voltage make s BIG difference. I've got my '66 wired the same way....

Thank you guys for your help. The being able to get the bulbs easier and going with the relay setup sounds like what I will do.
