Two of these have sold for around $300 the past couple of weeks. I got one out of Windy Hills for $10 a few weeks back. It needs to be restored to be a nice as NOS. There is a gal called the mirror lady that restores them for abound $150. At least thats what she quoted me for restoring a 66 ouside mirrow, which included re-chroming and date stamped.

I kind of understand; but two in the last couple of weeks at $300 plus. All that the one I have needs to have done is send it to the mirrorlady for $75 plus shipping. Or I could remove the glass and have it re-silvered. But I think the guy I traded the 4 original rims to for a 66 am/fm radio might pay that amount, since money is no object. And he has seven 67 Chevelles he could put it in. Going over the cliff is going to cost he more per yr and I make.
I have a pair of the NOS vinyl top retainers that I bought a couple of years ago. Saw the pair sell for around $275 recently. Another pair on ebay for $775.

Some of the NOS parts will demand a high price depending on the part. They know the buyer will pay since it's only 'new' once for that original type of restoration.

You also have to remember that sometimes it's the heat of battle on Ebay. People get in Auction mode and don't want to lose, especially if they lost out on the last one.

Bryan is correct; eBay creates a sense of competition and drives up the price. If my project was complete except for that last item, I’d over pay for it. I just paid what I thought was a rather high price for a Buick clock, because I wanted it.

Then there's the flip-side (like antiques roadshow). The "appraiser" says it's worth a bazillion dollars, but only to a market that has about 7 members.
